California Gov. Gavin Newsom, while campaigning for President Biden in the battleground state of Pennsylvania over the weekend, was asked about his own prospects should the Democratic incumbent exit the race. A longtime top Biden campaign surrogate, Newsom has rallied behind the president's re-election bid, making stops in Michigan and Pennsylvania in recent days. Yet his own name has been floated as a potential replacement for Biden should the 81-year-old president step aside and allow for an open convention, when Democratic delegates convene in Chicago next month to formally decide their nominee.

Claims that "woke" Pentagon policies are fueling a massive U.S. military recruiting crisis are overblown – and the criticisms may only be making things worse, one expert said. Peter Feaver, a Duke University professor and former member of the National Security Council during the Clinton and Bush administrations, said concerns over so-called "woke" policies have been blown out of proportion by politicians and critics. The main driver of the crisis are issues such as the current labor market and the shrinking pool of young Americans who are qualified to serve, he said. . .

With six weeks to go until November’s elections, a new public opinion poll in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania indicates that Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is ahead of GOP nominee Mehmet Oz in the race for Senate, with Democratic state Attorney General Josh Shapiro leading Republican state Sen. Doug Mastriano by double digits in the gubernatorial showdown. . . . .

SAN DIEGO -- The notification that San Diego State was cutting its women's rowing program was delivered, like most bad news in 2020, in a Zoom meeting. Madison Fisk sat at a desk in her bedroom in the off-campus house she shared with several teammates in November 2020 and listened to her coach explain that their scholarships -- if they had them -- would still be honored, but there would be no team for her senior season. There would be no races or regattas, no team bus rides, no 5 a.m. sunrise workouts

New Jersey first lady Tammy Murphy tested positive for COVID-19 after the family's controversial trip to Costa Rica over the Christmas holiday. "The Governor and First Lady tested themselves due to a recent known non-family contact in their home. Required procedures for reporting, case investigation, and contact tracing have been followed," New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy's office said in a statement Sunday.

It would be nice to get a permanent replacement for Ginsburg. But I am doubtful that the weak GOP Senators will allow such a thing, It is crucial to ensuring a fair election that Roberts does not hold the swing vote. He is owned and will allow many number of election scams to proceed. Plan B mist be to recess the Senate and allow for a recess appointment. At the very least, it would neuter John Roberts and allow for this blatant election fraud to be shut down.

Commissioners of the Power 5 conferences held an emergency meeting on Sunday, as there is growing concern among college athletics officials that the upcoming football season and other fall sports can't be played because of the coronavirus pandemic, sources told ESPN. No major decisions were made on Sunday night, but multiple sources in several Power 5 conferences have told ESPN the commissioners talked about trying to collaborate if their respective presidents do decide to cancel or postpone fall sports.

New Jersey’s governor tried to be understanding Tuesday when the state’s Motor Vehicle Commission offices reopened – with long lines and arguments among customers following a long coronavirus-related shutdown. But many New Jerseyans posting on social media seemed to think Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, could have done more to prevent the problems.

Yesterday: if the police had shot you with a paint gun, arrested you, or otherwise trampled your rights it would have been fine, so long as it was in support of social distancing and lockdowns. There was no police act too invasive or forceful in support of lockdown. Today: looting and rioting must be dealt a “light touch.” Yesterday: Certain governors wouldn’t (and still won’t) allow you to get a hair cut or attend a graduation. They condemned any protest that challenged their orders. Businesses who defied the orders were ruined. Today, some of the same governors are talking about...

It looks like Mitch thinks aid to the blue states is just another negotiation of give and take. It is not, any aid these tyrannical governors receive will be used to continue the endless shutdowns and pursuit of ever tightening restrictions on our freedoms. We must flood the senate phone lines. Spread the word friends and have anyone and everyone call. Not one dime until the blue state governors open their damn states up and end this. Here in NJ, my crazed, totalitarian clown of a governor is talking about August. Call Mitch and tell him that aid is a...

Gov. Phil Murphy on Wednesday launched into a fiery takedown of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for saying state and local governments with cratered finances because of the coronavirus pandemic should be allowed to file for bankruptcy rather than rely on federal aid. “My breath is taken away,” Murphy, a Democrat, said of the Kentucky Republican during his daily coronavirus press briefing in Trenton.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in an interview Sunday that he “can’t guarantee” that it will be safe to physically vote at polls in November due to coronavirus. “I hope so, Jake,” he said, in an interview on CNN with Jake Tapper. “I can’t guarantee it.” President Trump has spoken out unfavorably against mail-in ballots and there was a dramatic clash last week in Wisconsin that pitted Republicans in the state legislature and state Supreme Court against many Democrats nationwide.

This gem from the AP last night was posted here: https://apnews.com/a04cb47fc2fd9dff61118e5086aabb0e One doesn’t realize the absolute ignorance of our media until they report on an area where one has expertise. You also realize the degree to which the media relies on the public’s ignorance. The conflation of FDA approval of an expanded use of an approved drug or drugs and efficacy for that expanded or new use in the above article is astounding. Everyday, a physician somewhere prescribes a drug for a use for which it was not originally approved. Everyday. But just because the drug is not approved for...

We routinely differentiate between two kinds of military action: the inevitable carnage and collateral damage of diffuse hostilities, and the precision of a “surgical strike,” methodically targeted to the sources of our particular peril. The latter, when executed well, minimizes resources and unintended consequences alike. As we battle the coronavirus pandemic, and heads of state declare that we are “at war” with this contagion, the same dichotomy applies. This can be open war, with all the fallout that portends, or it could be something more surgical. The United States and much of the world so far have gone in for...

Donald Trump’s first instinct when it came to the coronavirus was to dismiss the threat as overblown, over there, and “totally under control.” His second was to use the pandemic as an opportunity to show off his world-historical leadership skills by treating the virus as a threat on par with World War II. Both reactions were driven by politics, not evidence. The first was unquestionably wrong. The second needs to be questioned aggressively before we impose solutions possibly more destructive than the virus itself

FDA late Monday updated its policy impacting private and public labs and commercial manufacturers to increase U.S. capacity for coronavirus diagnostic testing. The guidance, originally issued Feb. 29, is meant to address the "urgent need" to expand the number and variety of COVID-19 diagnostic tests available.
