The Teamsters Union, representing more than one million members, released the results of its presidential poll among members — showing that almost 60 percent of Teamsters support former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris.

The poll, released on Wednesday, shows that the most recent telephone poll of Teamsters — taken September 9-15, 2024 — found that 58 percent support Trump in the presidential election while just 31 percent back Harris. About six percent are undecided, and five percent are unsure.

Polling conducted from July 24 through September 15, 2024, found similar results, with more than 59 percent of Teamsters saying they support Trump and only 34 percent saying they support Harris. About 6.4 percent of Teamsters are considering other candidates

Numbers like that they should endorse Trump, it makes total sense..Trump is much better for the auto industry than Harris, who wants to ship everyone’s job to China

The Teamsters, which is one of the largest unions in the country, said a poll of members conducted after last week’s debate between Harris and Trump found 58 percent backed Trump compared to 31 percent who supported the vice president.

This is not a surprise. Most trade union members are at least a little conservative. It’s the leadership that is uniformly liberal.

So how do these union leaders get elected, and then re-elected, over and over again? The election process is heavily slanted towards incumbents. Plus there are all sorts of voting shenanigans.

As a retired union member, I know quite a bit about this sort of thing.

From April 9-July 3, nearly 300 Teamsters local unions nationwide conducted first-of-their-kind Presidential town halls, soliciting endorsement preferences from members via straw polls. The in-person voting was held prior to Biden’s withdrawal from the race. The Teamsters’ polling data shows members backed Biden 44.3 percent to Trump’s 36.3 percent.

Following the Republican National Convention and Biden’s campaign exit, the Teamsters commissioned a national electronic poll of its 1.3 million members, overseen by an independent third party. During a voting window from July 24-Sept. 15, rank-and-file Teamsters voted 59.6 percent for the union to endorse Trump, compared to 34 percent for Harris.

That’s from their website.

I could make a case that the first vote was filled with internal Swamp types of union management and second was rank and file, but that case may be weak. There may indeed be a change against Harris.

Which side of the union gets their hands greased by the democrats, and which side gets screwed by democrats.

Which side makes the decisions for how the union will be run, and which side gets screwed by the union decisions?

Which side gets to lose their jobs from having their jobs taken overseas, and which side still gets paid-0ff by democrats. Union bosses collect union dues, and democrat politicians get support from those dues, and the union bosses get kickbacks from those political contributions.

Biggest loser? The union members. Thus, union bosses don’t care about the union members and the union bosses continue doing as the democrat party dictates.

Numbers like that they should endorse Trump,

For sure, seems like a landslide. If they don't there is something wrong.

The least productive Teamster out there has done more productive work than the Ho or her vice. Hopefully, they'll vote for folks with an IQ, which eliminates a good portion of the Hamas DemocRAT party.

Some research says the Teamsters historically endorse the Democrat. A meeting with Harris was called “tense” by the NYT. And Teamsters had a rep speak at the RNC.

This looks like a change from historical norms.

How many Teamsters said out of fear of reprisals they will vote for Harris while they secretly plan to vote for Trump.

I heard Sean O Brien speak at the RNC convention, honestly some of the stuff he said he was spot on..it would be nice for a change for the teamsters to endorse a Republican, has NOT been done since George HW Bush, with numbers like the teamsters posted, which they did NOT have to do, there is NO way they will endorse Harris makes no sense, its going against the will of their voters

You poll Teamsters here on LI and you’ll get a result so tilted toward Trump that they’d be forced to fudge the numbers to get it at least not looking like the blowout it is…waaaait a minit…

“40% of teamsters are morons?”

Teamsters represent many professional and non profession workers in industries other than trucking. The membership as a whole is representative of much of the population demographically. Likely a high percentage black, hispanic and Asian Teamsters reflexively vote Democratic just as other non-union members of their race. Females in the general population tend to favor Democrats and it is reasonable to assume female members of the Teamsters union also favor Democrats.

While the Teamsters membership has spoken, it appears the Teamsters leadership, like the DNC, does not really support “our democracy” when the people make choices the leadership does not like. Hence the decision by the leadership not to endorse any candidate, even though the membership strongly favors Trump.
