I think some may overlooked what was probably one of the most wonderful and brilliantly produced movie’s of 2008 – Baz Luhrman’s directed Australia. Normally I wouldn’t post such a vanity, but this movie I stumbled upon is very special and a must see for all at FreeRepublic. Perhaps some have already, but like me a victim of Hollywood I did not know about this incredible production, and only came upon it when I checked it out from a “Redbox” machine at a local Supermarket. In my opinion this movie is on the artistic level and genius of the best...

Is there an American Idol thread this season? I was on a thread last season, but I don't see one. Anyway, it would be fun, and this time I on the fan club for Anoop Desai! He made it into the next round

We all watched H&C tonight. My favorite watch is, and always will be, a Rolex. I think, when Hannity gave Colmes that watch, it speaks to how much Hannity thinks of Alan Colmes. We are at a real crossroads right now, the times can be both challenging, even frightening, but these times also seem to directly channel our nation into each day. And I feel like I am living by the hour and certainly we live in a 24 by 7 news cycle today, with technology bringing us our history real time right before our eyes. For me, FOX News...

Ahmadinejad was going to give a Merry Christmas broadcast on British Television Channel 4, and my first reaction was a good laugh. But the critics to this had a good point; I mean what if billionaire air head George Soros sponsored a televised Merry Christmas greetings and message from Charles Manson on MSNBC? That would be shocking, right? I mean think about it. Imagine a Merry Christmas broadcast aired on CNN from Senate Majority leader Harry Reid? Well, I suppose that wouldn’t be “shocking”. But it would be disgusting. I mean Harry Reid’s long drawn old face is as worse...

This is a famous quote of JFK which media seems to have forgotten: “The level of crime in a City is in direct proportion to the will of its citizens and Law Enforcement Officers to tolerate it” - President John F. Kennedy. Today I see our police officers out in force, and I want to thank them all for their services and the duty they hold to help our citizens. They are my heroes. I love all of them, and wish them a very, very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Hannukah and Holy Days. God bless our police officers.

Sena, BJP want 'fitting reply' to Pakistan Meena Menon NAGPUR: The Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Opposition in Maharashtra on Tuesday said the covert war by Pakistan must be given a fitting reply. While Leader of the Opposition in the assembly Ramdas Kadam called for war, BJP’s Gopinath Munde demanded bombing of the terrorist training camps in Pakistan. The Opposition took on the ruling coalition for its lapses in dealing with the terror strike of November 26 and demanded an immediate change in the top police personnel who head the State and the city of Mumbai. Describing the terror attacks...

Barry Obama promised us that Oprah Winfrey was going to pay for my mortgage, and I’m wondering when this Illinois Democrat is going to live up to his promise. I mean, these rich porkers like Winfrey are rich only because they are a bunch of defrauding con-artists who stole our money from "we the people" with phony diets and other schemes, and Obama promised Oprah and her rich tabloid ilk are going to pay for my gas, groceries and mortgage, and he better live up to his promise because the message of change was “eat the rich” but the only...

The recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, have nothing to do with the “Kashmir dispute”. Nor do Islamic terrorist attacks on Israel have anything to do with the “Jerusalem dispute”, or the “Palestinian dispute”, anymore than the Islamic extremism in the Philippines has to do with Minanao and Sulu “dispute”, or “Moro dispute”, or this dispute or that dispute, Chechnya, Bosnia, Bedouin dispute, Armenian dispute, Cyprus dispute, northern Tunisia dispute, the “Bhairava Pole” dispute in Banaras India – on and on, unprovoked and savage Islamic oppression and subjugation of others be it in Iraq, Persia, Egypt, Asia, Byzantium, Afriqiya, India,...

This is a “guru” who wrote the book “Golf for Enlightenment” - pathetic. I didn’t know that gurus and enlightened ones such as the Buddha were interested in playing games like golf. In addition to an essay he has written “Does God Have Orgasms?”, his message on golf as a Bhagavad Gita is “I nourish my relationship with the ball by saying, `You're part of me ... When you soar, I will soar with you."' He lives the high life, he lives a rich lifestyle certainly beyond my means, and certainly beyond the life of the average Hindu in India...

What was Obama’s fascination with Pakistan in those decades past when he traveled and spent three weeks there in 1981 during his college years? Why Pakistan? Germany, or France, or even India or the Philippines, yes … But, it is not typical, not even normal at all, for a student of Occidental College in Los Angeles and transfer to Columbia University to leave the States to go to … Pakistan? Was he seeking out his Muslim roots? Who were these college friends of his from Pakistan that he travelled with, and what associations do they have in Pakistan? Obama stayed...

Sure, I suppose everyone has some influence in some way over the economy. And I suppose it is the American people themselves who have the greatest influence of all over the economy, and perhaps all of our problems are due in the larger part to the American people themselves and what they have been doing to themselves and to other Americans and who they have been electing. That maybe the American people themselves are to blame, and not Wall Street, and not all the politicians, and not the Jews and such. That, maybe the American people themselves are the problem,...

HONG KONG: Asian stocks and the US dollar reversed earlier gains while safe haven bids such as US Treasuries rose even after the U.S. Senate approved a $700 billion bailout plan of the financial system. Japanese and South Korean stocks accelerated their losses after the approval, helping the MSCI index of Asia-Pacific stocks outside Japan dip down 0.7 percent, reversing a modest gain immediately before the US Senate vote. "They still need to get this through the Congress, so it may be a bit of an anti-climax after all," said Howard Gorges, vice chairman with South China Brokerages. "We also...

McCain comes on FOX News cable this morning, about 30 minutes ago, and throws the election away. All he had to do was say that he is with the American people, that the American people had concerns with this bill and he is with the American people and understands why. All he had to do was say he is working for the American people and not politicians who create the problems and then want to be the same politicians who want to be in charge with fixing the problem. That this bill didn’t have the real reform we needed, that...

McCain has about 48 hours to fix his campaign. This is his last chance, and he has to do this now.Everyone knows what he needs to do – he needs to come out and say that he is against the plan as it was proposed, that the American people were against it and for good reason, that he is with the American people on this one. He needs to say there is a better plan, and that this wasn’t the bill and he is glad that the plan as proposed went down because it lacks accountability, it lacks the reform...

Bush’s delivery at the RNC, it was wonderful. His words on behalf of John McCain, there were some statements made which – frankly took my breath away. I felt it. In fact, it was very moving, such that I cannot express how to say it or even type a posting in response, other than say - Thank you President Bush for such a eminent delivery. Perhaps others can better express this. I don't care if this is vanity. I am speechless.

Sorry for the vanity, but … that was it? I mean, that was it? You know, the Democrat’s chant should be “Two More Years!” … Because the Democrats have been running everything since 2006. And, if everything sucks like the Democrats say, I mean, it all starting going into the toilet in 2006 – well, hasn’t the last two years been the Democrat’s last two years? So, they run everything, for the last two years, and they should be chanting “Two More Years”, right? And if it all started to go bad, and the last two years suck, then isn’t...

LONDON: British and American activists arrested by the Chinese for protesting about Tibet during the Olympics have said that they were locked to their chairs for marathon interrogation sessions and deprived of sleep. The activists, including eight Americans, a German and Amanda McKeown, a mother of two from Bristol, were sent home on Sunday during the games closing ceremony. They said they were kept in cells and allowed to leave only for interrogations, which dragged on for up to 16 hours at a time, The Telegraph reported. With lights shining on them, prisoners were locked into high-backed metal chairs with...

I just got done listening to Biden. I don’t get it … so Biden is telling us that Obama and the Democrats want to attack Afghanistan, Pakistan, and also crack down on Russia? But they also want to pull out of Iraq so that our “troops can come home”? I don’t get it, because anytime I talk with the base of Obama, these are leftists who, yes, want to pull out of Iraq, and they want and will demand that we pull out of anyplace we go, because they think that America is the problem, the war monger. So I...

Eva Peron was called the Spiritual Leader of the Nation of Argentina. She grew up in a province of Buenos Aires and then in the village of Pampas. Her father left the family, leaving the five children in a severe state of poverty. She then lived in the poorest areas. She then met Juan Peron, who had joined the Argentine Army, when after an earthquake in San Juan in which six thousand people were killed and Peron was raising money to aid the victims, Juan organized an artistic festival and fundraiser and Juan met Eva. She came from humble means....

India Daily Aug 3, 2008 Editorial: Sudhir Chadda America can do it. It has large enough stick and carrot to do it. The Bush Administration is proceeding in the right direction. Finally the Americans have understood how terrorism works in Pakistan. It is based on the Pakistani spy network ISI. Now Americans have moved to force ISI (the mother of all terrorists) flush out its own creation. US on Sunday asked Pakistan to get its intelligence network to work towards tackling terrorism that is affecting its neighborhood. "Pakistan needs to get everybody lined up in the same direction if they...
