  • Conservatives that can't vote for Romney VANITY

    11/02/2012 11:06:00 AM PDT · by birdsman · 151 replies
I know that some freepers are reluctant to vote for Romney because he's not conservative enough. Few of us wanted him to be the Republican nominee, and for good reason. This is why I'm voting Libertarian this year. I know the mantra, a vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Obama, but that's not true in deep blue states like mine (New York). I propose that conservatives in deep blue states agree to vote 3rd party. In return, conservatives in toss up states can hold their noses while voting for Romney.

This was about Vietnam, but still fits. http://cockeyedabsurdist.vox.com/library/audio/6a00cd970622754cd500d41425a718685e.html
  • Question on judicial appointments

    11/03/2004 9:30:53 AM PST · by birdsman · 31 replies · 819+ views
I know that there's been a lot of talk on how the Senate won't be able to block judicial nominations anymore, but I don't see how there's much difference. We still don't have the 60 Republicans needed to stop the obstruction. Even though Daschel (sp?) is gone, another democrap will be just as bad. Most of the seats that we picked up were from democraps that voted with us on cloture. How is there any improvement in this area? I really need reassurance.

Is there a way of reading archives of this forum? I'd like to read comments from 9-11-01 as the events unfolded. If anyone knows how to access FR's archives from that date, please let me know how. Thanks
  • Can the Democrats stop the recall by using back door maneuver?

    08/23/2003 10:14:18 AM PDT · by birdsman · 8 replies · 108+ views
It's Oct 1, and Davis knows that he can't possibly beat the recall. He also sees in the polls that Bustamante will not be elected. He resigns, making Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante the new governor. Since the recall effort was to replace Davis, and Davis had been replaced, the courts decide to cancel the recall election. Bustamante serves out the rest of the term. Can this tactic work?
  • Is the recall really a good idea?

    08/08/2003 10:59:20 AM PDT · by birdsman · 10 replies · 195+ views
I don't think that a recall is really in the GOP's best interest. Even if Arnold (I won't attempt to spell his name) is elected, Calif is still stuck with a liberal as governor. I'd rather see Davis stay on, as he'd be ineffective. Keeping an unpopular Davis will keep many democrats at home on election day 2004, which would almost guarentee Bush CALIF in his reelection bid, all but guarentee a Republican (hopefully a real Republican) victory in the next gubitorial race, and may even help defeat Dianne Boxershorts on 04.
  • Judicial Extremists

As we all know, the Rats have been claiming "extremist" nominees have been submitted for judgeships. Since the 9th Circuit Court has decided that "One nation under God" is unconstitutional, I'd like to know where to find out which senators have voted for any of these "mainstream" judges in the 9th circuit. This is the 1st string that I've started, so excuse any mistakes.
  • A question on military terms

    04/06/2003 9:58:42 PM PDT · by birdsman · 25 replies · 911+ views
I've often heard marines saying that something was 8 clicks away. I served in the US Navy, so I don't know ground forces terms. To satisfy my curiosity, could someone tell me just how far a "click" is? thanks.
