TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Classroom Teachers Association is urging voters to say yes to a property tax increase measure that would increase teacher pay. However, voters may not even have a say on the issue this November. The Hillsborough County Commission decided to delay the vote until November of 2026. This prompted the Hillsborough County School System to sue the county over the issue.

The Supreme Court denied Friday former Trump advisor Steve Bannon’s request to stay out of jail pending his appeal. Bannon will now be required to report to prison by July 1, as a federal judge ordered him to do earlier this month. The Florida Legislature got an unlikely shout-out earlier this month. China Weekly, a Chinese language publication, mentioned a Florida bill that would ban the sale and manufacturing of cultivated meat, also sometimes referred to as lab-grown meat. If the bill passes, Florida would be the first state to ban the sale of cultivated meat. The industry worries Florida’s action could cause other states to follow suit.
