The owner of John Brown Smokehouse is closing his Long Island City restaurant citing the pandemic and “idiot politicians” as the reason. Josh Bowen, who opened the restaurant at 10-43 44th Dr. eight years ago, said his lease had come to an end and that it made little sense to renew it at a time when there is so much uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. The venue, best known for its traditional sweet and smoky style barbecue, has yet to close and he will be making announcement as to a closing date soon. “It is bittersweet to leave 44th Dr but between...

If you had told me three years ago that I would ever attend a Donald Trump rally, I would have laughed and assured you that was never going to happen. Heck, if you had told me I would do it three months ago, I probably would have done the same thing. So, how did I find myself among 11,000-plus Trump supporters in Manchester, New Hampshire? Believe it or not, it all started with knitting. But when I witnessed the amount of hate coming from the left in this small, niche knitting community, I started to question everything. I started making...

Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard. After November's Virginia Legislature elections that led to Democrats taking control of both chambers, the gun control legislation proposed by some Democrats moved forward, including universal background checks, an assault weapons” ban, and a red flag law. Legal firearm owners in the state, however, joined with their sheriffs to form Second Amendment sanctuary counties, which declare the authorities in these municipalities uphold the Second Amendment in the face of any...

A community in the central Logar province of Afghanistan has awarded the ‘Bravery’ Medal to the US President Trump for his recent stance against Pakistan. The handmade medal was prepared with a total cost of $645 with the contribution of the participants of an informal Jirga in which around 300 people had participated. Syed Farhad Akbari, a community leader in the province, on January 14 told RFE/RL’s Afghan Service that more than 300 people at an informal “jirga,” or council, of concerned citizens agreed to award the medal to the U.S. president. He said the handwritten message on the award...

Looking for some advice/guidance from the smart folks here. I have a child who is a junior at Penn State at State College and another child who is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia (UPenn pre-med). I am currently deployed (National Guard) on a year-long US Army combat deployment with American and Afghan Special Forces in Afghanistan. My Penn State child decided to join the Pennsylvania National Guard to help pay for college and take a financial burden off our family. His dates for BASIC/AIT are Summer 2017 - Spring 2018. When we informed UPenn that Penn...

Delanie Walker is a tight end for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans and has opened his yap about fans who are upset over players choosing to disrespect our nation’s flag and anthem by sitting it out at the start of games. He probably should’ve just clammed up. Walker, who is currently on a two-year contract that’s paying him $13,375,000 (that’s THIRTEEN MILLION THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS) that includes a “signing bonus,” a “roster bonus,” a “workout bonus” plus other incentives, has come across as the ultimate entitled millionaire jock by telling fans he really doesn’t care if you...

A Seattle, Wash., councilman implied that a new effort to clean excrement off the side walk outside the local courthouse could be racist Tuesday. The crime and smell of urine and excrement have gotten so bad outside a King County courthouse that two judges are scrambling to find ways to fix the situation, reports the Seattle Times. King County councilmember Larry Gossett isn’t a fan of one solution to power wash the feces from the sidewalks to tamp down on the smell. Power washing the sidewalks is too reminiscent of civil rights activists being hosed down, he said. The area...

The Illinois official responsible for paying the state's bills is warning that new court orders mean her office must pay out more each month than Illinois receives in revenue. Comptroller Susana Mendoza must prioritize what gets paid as Illinois nears its third year without a state budget. A mix of state law, court orders and pressure from credit rating agencies requires some items be paid first. Those include debt and pension payments, state worker paychecks and some school funding. Mendoza says a recent court order regarding money owed for Medicaid bills means mandated payments will eat up 100 percent of...

It came as a thunderclap. A college friend, a fair-minded liberal, did the unthinkable: He walked away from the Democratic Party, publicly declaring his disgust on social media. The election of Larry Krasner — the anti-cop defense lawyer — as the Democratic Party’s nominee for Philadelphia district attorney was the last straw. His post: “That did it. After 30 years of voting as a Democrat, I am no longer a member of that party ... The national Dems failed to clean house after admitting they fixed the presidential primary. And the local Dems just let George Soros buy the Philly...

What makes the law-abiding leave California is not just the sanctimoniousness, the high taxes, or the criminality. It is always the insult added to injury. We suffer not only from the highest basket of income, sales, and gas taxes in the nation, but also from nearly the worst schools and infrastructure. We have the costliest entitlements and the most entitled. We have the largest number of billionaires and the largest number of impoverished, both in real numbers and as a percentage of the state population. In feral California, we suffer not just from too many and too few applications of...

I just finished watching the off-Broadway show of "Avenue Q" When you first walk in, the lighting control panel just of to the right has a very visible bumper sticker attached it that says "With Donald Trump as President I am going to start smoking crack" in red/white and blue. It is a weird bumper sticker. Meant to be disrespectful to DJT but made me laugh at the idiot controlling the lighting. At the end of the play the song "For Now" is sung to show how all bad things are temporary. And of course, they had to sing: Only...

1. Engage Russia in Kinetic Action As we covered in yesterday’s article, Obama needs to force Trump’s hand by launching a preemptive strike against Russia such as a no-fly zone over Syria, which as top generals have pointed out, will provoke Russia into declaring war with the United States. NATO will then be able to invade Russia, and Trump will have no choice but to follow through and support the invasion until its conclusion. 2. Solidify His Executive Orders When Trump gets into power, he is able to undo Obama’s executive orders. This cannot be allowed to happen. Obama needs...

Ok - Some predictions for the next 30 days: Trump goes to Russia. Meets with Putin. Hammers out a plan to defeat ISIS within 100 days of taking office. Hillary still does not have a press conference. Where is she? On medical leave. She is sick and frail and Trump knows it. Another muslim attack on non-muslims in a western country - more votes for Trump The stock market hiccups - more votes for Trump The housing bubble pops - more votes for Trump More scandal for Hillary - more votes for Trump More emails being leaked - more Hillary...
