According to the 1975 book Man Eating Sharks! by Felix Dennis, on a beautiful, clear summer day in 1955, one beach along the shores of Lake Michigan was packed with people looking to cool off and enjoy the sunny day, and one of these was George Lawson, a boy from Chicago. Lawson was out with many others splashing about and swimming off a boat near the beach when witnesses allegedly saw him pulled underwater, seemingly by something yanking him under and accompanied by the boy's panicked screams. Shockingly, a dorsal fin was reported by several others on the boat as...

Tourists in northern Australia have been left stunned by two fierce animals going head-to-head -- a massive saltwater crocodile wrestling with a bull shark in its jaws. ... Brutus, who is thought to be about 80 years old and is missing a front leg and most of his teeth, is well known in the area, and the Northern Territory News described the battle as "Jaws v Claws". Speculation is that the prospect of a fish dinner was tasty revenge for a croc that was thought to have lost his limb to one of the sharks who inhabit nearby waters. "But...

But nearly three years after commercial fisherman John “Willy” Dean hauled in the first bull shark recorded in the Potomac in 37 years, he repeated the feat Tuesday — twice. The first of the two bull sharks Dean caught Tuesday in the waters off of Point Lookout State Park at the tip of St. Mary’s County was already dead in the water. Sharks need a constant flow of moving water to breathe, Dean’s son Greg said. Constrained in a net that the Deans use to take in fish...

It was 4 a.m. and still dark when Dufour and his partner felt the extra weight in their net. "I jumped back and said, what the heck is this. I didn't know what it was," he recalled. But Dufour's question was answered when the fish plopped into their 20 foot boat. "When it opened the mouth it got, I don't know how many different set of teeth in it. They got a bunch of teeth in there," Dufour said. It turned out to be an 80 pound bull shark. "After we got it in the boat, we fought with it,...

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Visitors to Palm Beach are being advised not to go in the water because of shark sightings. Warnings posted said hundreds of bull sharks and lemon sharks have been seen swimming along the surf, the sand bar and farther out in the Atlantic Ocean. Lifeguards say the shark invasion happens a few times a year, often in March. The sharks pass by every spring while migrating to their summer homes up North. Officials first spotted the sharks Wednesday morning and said there were less by the afternoon. They're hoping there will be even fewer today.
