FORT HUACHUCA — U.S. Army Garrison Fort Huachuca will conduct a Change of Command Ceremony between Col. Thomas A. Boone (outgoing) and Col. James W. Wright (incoming) at 7:30 a.m., today, June 21, on Brown Parade Field. The community is welcome to join us for a colorful, traditional military ceremony. Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6, Family and MWR, the Sierra Vista Riding Club and Cochise College will host the Cochise College Rodeo at Wren Arena, Fort Huachuca. Gates open at noon and the rodeo will start at 1 p.m. both days. Sunday, Exceptional Rodeo will start at 10 a.m., followed by Cowboy Church at noon. The rodeo is open to the public and will feature saddle and bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie down roping, team roping, bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying. The days of the old horse cavalry of the U.S. Army are generally now only seen in movies. But on Fort Huachuca those days of the late 1800s are still alive through the all-volunteer B Troop, 4th Cavalry Regiment (Memorial), honoring a unit which served on the post at various times from 1884 to 1912.
