Cochise College Rodeo

Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6, Family and MWR, the Sierra Vista Riding Club and Cochise College will host the Cochise College Rodeo at Wren Arena, Fort Huachuca. Gates open at noon and the rodeo will start at 1 p.m. both days. Sunday, Exceptional Rodeo will start at 10 a.m., followed by Cowboy Church at noon. The rodeo is open to the public and will feature saddle and bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie down roping, team roping, bull riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying. Active Duty military and children 5 and under will be admitted free. Advance tickets for the general public go on sale in now for $7 at Murr Community Center, Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista Safeway, Ace Hardware–Sierra Vista, and at Cochise College, Sierra Vista and Douglas Campuses. Fort Huachuca's Family and MWR, the Sierra Vista Riding Club and Cochise College will host the Cochise College Rodeo. The rodeo is open to the public and will feature saddle and bareback bronc horse riding, bull riding, barrel racing, roping and more.

When: Saturday, March 2, Gates open at 8 a.m. for slack rodeo. Performance starts at 2 p.m.; Sunday, March 3, Exceptional Rodeo starts at 10 a.m., Cowboy Church at 12 Noon, Championship Round Performance starts at 2 p.m. Where: Wren Arena, Fort Huachuca Admission: Active Duty military and children 6 and under, free. Tickets for youth ages 7 to 12 will be distributed free at area schools. Advance tickets for the general public on sale in mid- February for $6. At the Gate ticket cost is $8.

NOTE: Fort Huachuca is an active military installation. US citizens may access the post by providing photo ID for everyone over the age of 16 along with proof of current vehicle registration and insurance.

I was stationed at Huachuca twice - once in the 80s and again in the 90s - and I used to really enjoy that rodeo. In fact, I still have a couple of daughters and a son-in-law in the area.
