(The Center Square) – Billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will take over a new effort to make the government more efficient.

President-elect Donald Trump’s new “Department of Government Efficiency,” or DOGE, is a government efficiency effort that has turned a public spotlight onto government waste and duplication in a way not done for years.

Musk created a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) account on X where he is asking followers for suggestions.

Aside from lopping off entire agencies, here are some examples of controversial federal spending that, based on Musk and Ramaswamy’s recent comments, could be in the line of fire for coming cuts:

Ahhhh. How quickly we forget all.these programs were approved by congress and passed a vote. I doubt any of these programs will be successfully de funded without going for another vote.

Our friends the democrats have illustrated quite clearly that funded doesn't necessarily mean executed.

I need to write these guys a letter. Although they are pretty smart so maybe they know all the tricks.

You could cut the Gov workforce probably 70% and still achieve the same productivity. Because 30% of the people do all the work.

But what will happen is the Gov will get rid of those 30% then say “see! We told you we couldn’t do it!”

Oh, they’ll close the national parks, put one guy on the border checkpoints so the lines are 10 miles long.

Oldest Govt trick in the books.

They are probably salivating at the opportunity actually, no better way to make the people disapprove of what you are doing.

Correct.. the one permanent fix is to repeal the 17th Amendment

The rest of this is arguing about the deck furniture on the Titanic or focusing on what color dress Ms Kennedy was wearing in Dallas.. busy work to keep us from seeing the real issue, the uniparty and lobbyists running loose while the Senior Executive Service manages it.. its all built on the 17th Amendment.

$950 billion each year to the Military Industrial Complex (MIC). Yet, we do not get much national defense from that spending.

Given Trump has floated the idea of removing the income tax, I want to believe they are looking at amendments they could press to repeal in an Article V convention.

I’d like to see the 16th and 17th amendments repealed and Article the First finally ratified after almost 250 years.

You mean like how every business in the world works?

That would be a novel approach.

But….wait until they do it. The forum would be screaming with the voices of the unseeded Federal workers being ripped from the teat of Uncle Sugar.

Damn good reply! Repeal the 17th!

No more Lindsey's and mitches!! Senators should be recalled and let go. NYC would have less control of congress because the rest of the state would have a better rep in Selecting a senator!!!
