Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) said Saturday President Trump bore some responsibility for a shooting in El Paso, Texas that killed at least 20 people. Asked by news reporters whether the president was in some part responsible for the shooting, O'Rourke, who formerly served as the city's mayor, responded firmly. "Yes. We've had a rise in hate crimes every single one of the last three years," O'Rourke said Saturday evening. "During an administration where you've had the president call Mexicans rapists and criminals." "He is a racist, and he stokes racism in this country," the former congressman and current 2020...

A New York City art gallery owner says he was viciously beaten in Manhattan by a large group of teens for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat. Jahangir "John" Turan, 42, says it happened Tuesday evening on Canal Street. He was wearing the MAGA hat that he had purchased earlier in the day at Trump Tower. "I love President Trump. I think he's doing a great job," Turan said. He says the group of about 15 "kids" yelled "F*** Trump" and stomped on him. One of them smashed his head into a scaffold. Turan says he suffered a fracture...

of murdering a 7-year-old black girl late in 2018 has died from an apparent suicide after hanging himself in his jail cell earlier in July. Houston’s ABC and Fox stations reported that Robert Cantrell, 49, was found dead July 23. Cantrell had been in jail in Montgomery County, just outside of Houston, since Dec. 30, 2018, on evasion and robbery charges. Cantrell was arrested the same day Jazmine Barnes was gunned down while riding in a car with her mother and siblings. Barnes’s death gained national attention because her mother, LaPorsha Washington, alleged the shooter was white. Washington alleged the...

Over the weekend, MSNBC's AM Joy show demonstrated its inability to engage in sober criticism of President Donald Trump rather than descending into over the top hyperbole as two frequent guests of the show likened Trump supporters to Nazis and KKK members. Comedian Dean Obeidallah claimed that the word "Trump" is becoming a "modern-day swastika," MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson saw a "modern-day lynching" of Ilhan Omar and her "Squad" colleagues, and The Beat D.C's Tiffany Cross declared that a MAGA hat is equivalent to a "Nazi symbol" or "Klan hood."

Montana Senator Jon Tester and President Trump don’t have a good relationship, as we know from when Tester’s mission was to destroy Rear Admiral Jackson’s nomination as Surgeon General. President Trump went on to strongly support Montana’s Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat occupied by Tester in 2018. That was to be expected, given that the president is the top Republican in the land. Trump’s verbal digs at Tester, though, got the best of the flat-top coiffed Montanan. Now Tester is downright aggressively hostile toward President Trump, as he proved during his appearance on a morning talk show. Tester...

...MSNBC’s All In host, Chris Hayes, took a leading position Thursday night by denouncing all Republicans and Trump supporters, and calling for a revolution of sorts against the Trump administration. As with all social justice warriors, Hayes has been circulating his “cause” all week, building the case for Trump’s apparent racism. He began: “Each part of the coalition has been dealt into the Trump presidency. It is a classic model of corrupt governance. The capo on the top and the many, many bosses below who are given control of their domain to do as they wish.” This statement, clearly meant...

After a week that saw President Trump and his foes toss toxic words at each other, there is now a warning that the next phase could be “violence.” Nearly 8 of 10 Americans told the Pew Research Center that supporters for both sides could “act” on the politically charged rhetoric with violence. It was higher for Democrats, 91%, than Republicans, 61%. And they want politicians to cool it.
