Huffington Post film reviewer Laura Goldman generally liked the new romantic comedy “Bridget Jone’s Baby,” but she had one problem: It doesn’t promote abortion. Goldman’s movie review read more like an advocacy piece for abortion. She argued that the comedy, the third in the Bridget Jones series, should have mentioned abortion because the pregnant 40-something main character would have considered it in real life. She wrote: “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” deftly written, generates a belly laugh a minute. The one flaw of the movie is that it overdoses on cuteness instead of taking the braver path of discussing birth control and...

Principal photography has started on the six-part adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s classic War And Peace which is being made by BBC Cymru Wales in partnership with The Weinstein Company and BBC Worldwide/Lookout Point. Paul Dano, Lily James and James Norton are already aboard to star, with new additions to the cast including Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson, Brian Cox and Ken Stott. Feminist professors go ballistic when observers such as your humble correspondent report that the constituency they are appealing to finds women’s studies irrelevant, if not ridiculous. “Does the typical woman graduating from college have the information she needs to make decisions that will improve her chances for long-term health and happiness?,” the Independent Women’s Forum’s Carrie Lukas asked in a recent column in The Washington Examiner. “Probably not.” “Chances are she’s been given a lot of bad information—much of it in the name of political correctness.” Lukas, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Women, Sex, and Feminism, will speak...

I wasted $3.99 last night renting "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason." Well, I hated it. First of all, it is quite annoying to me that everyone treats this girl like she is so unbelievably fat, what with all the references and snide comments about her weight. What does she weigh, like 135-140? Hello, I haven't weighed that since... 9th grade. Give me a freakin' break. I have news for you fat-phobes out there, I am well over 200 pounds and I don't have as much of a problem with my weight as this gal, who is maybe 10 lbs....

The Conservatives used Bridget Jones to put support for marriage at the heart of their policies for tackling the breakdown of society. David Willetts, the party's spokesman for work and pensions, last night dismissed Left-wing claims that marriage was an outdated institution. He said that while young people were marrying later, increasing numbers of people followed the book and film heroine's route in looking for the right partner."If anything, we have higher hopes of marriage than ever before. We are taking longer to find the right partner, but still searching for that person with whom we want to spend the...
