Links will be provided as they become available. We ended the night previous with a thread claiming that a verdict had been reached. It had no way to be verified so the thread was deleted. Two jurors are reported to be frightened by the prospects of the mob attacking them and their family. Will the judge step in? Will this be a full day? or will it be quickly resolved? Stay tuned!

The Biden administration is expected to begin the process of expanding the booster authorization to all adults as early as this week, according to a source familiar with internal planning. Why it matters: America's booster campaign got off to an underwhelming start, potentially leaving millions of vulnerable people at risk as the holidays approach. The big picture: The pandemic still isn't over, and the data is clear that vaccine effectiveness has waned over time and with the rise of Delta — but also that a booster dose restores protection against the virus to remarkable levels.Despite disagreement among experts about who needs a...

Don't know how lively this thread will be, but there is coverage of sorts going on so I figured it merited a thread for FReepers to comment on and post updates as they occur.

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — The judge at Kyle Rittenhouse’s murder trial on Monday dismissed a count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18, a misdemeanor that had appeared to be among the likeliest of the charges to net a conviction for prosecutors. The judge then launched into 36 pages of legal instructions to the jury, explaining the charges and the laws of self-defense. After that, the two sides were expected to deliver closing arguments, the final word before the jury was to begin deliberations. Rittenhouse, 18, killed two men and wounded a third in the summer...

Both sides have rested their case and they proceed to try to convince the jury that their client is either guilty as charged (including lesser offenses) or Not Guilty by reason of self-defense. So far, my favorite line from the trial came from the prosecution: ADA Binger: "Mr. Rittenhouse, you play Call of Duty, right? Isn't the goal of that game to kill everyone in sight?" KYLE: "Well, yea, but it is a game . . . it isn't reality."

Isn’t great that America is back and the adults are back in charge? America is back, all right: all the way back to 1979, the last time we had a president so weak that enemies of the United States stormed one of our embassies and took hostages. On Thursday, the Yemeni media outlet Al-Masdar Online reported that Houthi jihadis in Yemen, which are backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, stormed our embassy in Sana’a, seizing “large quantities of equipment and materials.” Just days before that, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), they “kidnapped three Yemeni nationals...

Today we have to wonder what will be the more likely cause of the next riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Will it be an acquittal of the defendant either by the jury or a directed verdict of Not Guilty? And if the latter happens will they riot because the judge is apparently a Lee Greenwood, even to the extent of have "God Bless the USA" as a ringtone on his phone. The judge suggests that the trial should be ready to wrap up by Tuesday. Progressives Demand ‘Mistrial’ Over Rittenhouse Judge’s ‘God Bless The U.S.A.’ RingtoneI expect soon that legislation will...

The White House on Monday said businesses should move forward with President Joe Biden’s vaccine and testing requirements for private businesses, despite a federal appeals court ordering a temporary halt to the rules. “People should not wait,” White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters during a briefing. “They should continue to move forward and make sure they’re getting their workplace vaccinated.” The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, considered one of the most conservative appellate courts in the country, halted the requirements Saturday pending review, writing that “the petitions give cause to believe there are grave...
