Whenever I see an article, headline, etc., about a same-sex couple (husbands or wives); I am reminded of the following scene from Fawlty Towers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AygIe_C_tSU So, I thought I’d write the following parody of Fawlty (of the 1970s) dealing with a same-sex couple, based on the scene above, and the characters created by Mr. John Cleese, and Ms. Connie Booth (with apologies to both). (Two men walk in the main doors.) Sybil: Good evening. Man 1: Good evening. I telephoned earlier, we are two husbands. Sybil: Oh yes. There hasn't been a cancellation, I'm afraid, so it is still a...

Things are happening in regards to January 6. You might not know it because a lot of it hasn’t gotten much press, especially from the likes of media milksops Rachel Madcow and Don Lemon. And for once, it isn’t all bad news. 1) Two Washington D.C. officials have been held in contempt of court for their treatment of January 6 defendant and Proud Boy Chris Worrell. Judge Royce Lamberth found prison warden Wanda Patten and Washington D.C. Department of Corrections Director Quincy Booth in contempt of court. The judge also ordered a civil rights investigation into the treatment of Worrell...

Bates’ experience seems to be a common one among employees at Amazon’s ‘fulfilment centers,’ who in some locations have been struggling to unionize against the wishes of their superiors. The retail giant regularly features on the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health’s ‘Dirty Dozen’ list of unsafe employers, with the most recent pre-pandemic report citing 13 fatalities since 2013, “a high incidence of suicide attempts,” and “workers urinating in bottles because they are afraid to take breaks.” However, Amazon has supposedly noticed the toll its workplace takes on employees’ mental health and has given them something back: “a space...

...In front of 1,500 people at the event, Depp decided to use their captive attention to spew hatred for our president and promote assassination. “I think he needs help and there are a lot of wonderful dark, dark places he could go,” Depp said. Since the crowd immediately responded with cheers, the actor was encouraged to continue with his disparaging remarks, and it only got worse. “It is just a question – I’m not insinuating anything. By the way, this is going to be in the press. It will be horrible. I like that you are all a part of...

DES MOINES, Iowa — Some Republicans are accusing the party’s neoconservative hawks of playing dirty pool in an attempt to smear Sen. Rand Paul as a bigot for having an aide who once expressed admiration for Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth. The aide, Jack Hunter, who quit on Monday, was eased out by Mr. Paul after a neoconservative publication revealed that, as a radio “shock jock” some years ago, Mr. Hunter advocated that the Southern states secede once again from the union. Saying he had become more libertarian and broad-minded since his days as the “Southern Avenger,” Mr. Hunter revealed...

One of the main groups organizing the Wisconsin union protests is a spinoff from an activist academy modeled after Marxist community organizer Saul Alinsky and described as teaching tactics of direct action, confrontation and intimidation. President Obama once funded that academy - the radical Midwest Academy. He has been closely tied to the group's founder, socialist activist Heather Booth. Obama also is closely tied to scores of other radicals behind the Wisconsin opposition protesting Gov. Scott Walker's proposal for most state workers to pay 12 percent of their health care premiums and 5.8 percent of their salary toward their own...

Ted Olson and his anti-Prop 8 media machine have been aggressively leveraging his past associations with conservative legal causes in support of his newfound support for the invention of a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. In so doing, they’ve tried to obscure the fact that the position that the Constitution can and should be interpreted to invalidate traditional marriage laws can’t possibly be reconciled with the conservative legal principles that Olson used to purport to stand for. (I’m not addressing here the very different question whether a conservative can soundly support legislative revision of marriage laws to include same-sex couples.)...

Fair drops Casey Anthony dunking boothPublished: July 20, 2011 at 3:09 PM LEXINGTON, Ky., July 20 (UPI) -- A Kentucky fair has dismantled a Casey Anthony dunking booth after criticism for making light of the child murder case. **SNIP** Ron Mossotti, chairman of the fair, admitted to The Lexington Herald-Leader that the booth was "tacky and tasteless," but said, "We're not running a high-end social event." "Most people laughed," he said. "They thought it was more satire than offensive." The "State vs. Anthony" dunking booth let fairgoers vent their feelings about the Florida woman's acquittal in the death of her...

Meet Joel Chandler, who just paid his $1.00 toll on the Polk Parkway with a $100 bill,he is not allowed to leave unless he provides personal info to the toll taker. The toll taker tells Chandler this is what happens when they get large bills. It was only a matter of time. Tony Blair’s sister-in-law Lauren Booth has converted to Islam after a dose of “spiritual morphine” in Iran, although she talks about the world’s fastest-growing religion like it was the latest version of the Atkins Diet: “Now I don’t eat pork and I read the Koran every day. I’m on page 60. I also haven’t had a drink in 45 days, the longest period in 25 years,” she said. And she’s even refused to rule out wearing a burka: “Who knows where my spiritual journey will take me?” Politically Booth has always struck me...

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s sister-in-law, Lauren Booth, has converted to Islam after a trip to Iran. The 43-year-old broadcast journalist, who works for Iran’s English-language Press TV, said she had a “holy experience” while visiting the Fatima al-Masumeh shrine in the city of Qom, a “shot of spiritual morphine.” Upon her return to Britain, she told British publication The Mail in an interview published Sunday that she decided to immediately convert to Islam. “Now I don’t eat pork and I read the Koran every day. I’m on page 60,” she told the publication. “I also haven’t had a...

What happened to Officer John Parker, the man who chose the wrong night to leave his post at Ford's Theater? When a celebrity-seeking couple crashed a White House state dinner last November, the issue of presidential security dominated the news. The Secret Service responded by putting three of its officers on administrative leave and scrambled to reassure the public that it takes the job of guarding the president very seriously. “We put forth the maximum effort all the time,” said Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan. That kind of dedication to safeguarding the president didn’t always exist. It wasn’t until 1902...

Voters in the 19th District have chosen Republican Joe Booth. He took over 60% of the vote. Unofficial numbers from 15 of 16 districts: Republican Joe Booth – 4335 Democrat Polly Adams Mervine – 2083 Independent Matthew Opaliski – 408 Libertarian Wendy Jones – 56 The numbers are unofficial because for the second time in two elections, there have been problems with the state’s website and reporting the results as they come in from the election districts. With Joe Booth’s unofficial win in the 19th District Senate race, that leaves the 37th House District without representation – and another special...

The video above relives the details of the awful day. The video below goes more in depth about the assassin, John Wilkes Booth, and the plot to assassinate Lincoln...

The booths at the Saturday Corvallis Farmers’ Market have a wild mix of fresh produce, tasty food, plants and flowers. But this week, a table just outside the bazaar offered something more bizarre — “Meet a Black Guy.” Those who participated in the free service could chat with 21-year-old Corvallis resident Jeff Oliver, and get pictures taken with him.
