Rep. Paul Ryan is seeking to distance himself from last year’s government shutdown and counter his image as an unsympathetic budget negotiator in a new memoir released as the Wisconsin Republican weighs a presidential run in 2016. In "The Way Forward: Renewing the American Idea," the 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee writes that he warned his fellow GOP that the shutdown “can't be the full measure of our party and our movement” and called it “a suicide mission.”

MSNBC’s Krystal Ball ripped Hillary Clinton’s book tour on Tuesday’s The Cycle, calling the former Secretary of State “kind of tone deaf and unrelatable,” and questioning her motives for running for president, as she is widely expected to do in 2016: What are we to make of the Hillary Clinton book tour, that is so much more than a book tour. The down to the second precision interactions, perfectly calculated to make sure that visitors don’t feel jilted while maximizing the number of signatures. The planned pop-ups of old friends who just happen to be in the area, the carefully...

Hillary Clinton's new book 'Hard Choices' is a 'bomb', according to a publishing source. The former first lady's memoir - detailing her time as secretary of state under Obama - has sold just 60,000 hardcover copies and 24,000 e-books, the source told The Weekly Standard. The results come after publisher Simon & Schuster's 'hoping and praying' that 150,000 print copies would be sold in the first week after the book went on sale on June 10, the source added. 'Between us, they are nervous at S&S,' the source said. 'Sales were well below expectations and the media was a disaster......

-snip- On Monday, conservative provocateur Ann Coulter visited Sean Hannity for a plug-her-latest-book sitdown, during which her host tossed out what he no doubt assumed would a typical conservative-colleagues-in-arms softball: “Establishment Republicans are at war with the Tea Party base, and I’m angry about it!” But Coulter slammed it, so to speak, to the opposite field, going on a tear against Newt Gingrich, Todd Akin, Mark Sanford, and Liz Cheney, whom she declared to be “hucksters, shysters, and people ripping off the Republican Party for their own self-aggrandizement, for their own egos, to make money.”
