Veteran GOP strategist Karl Rove on Wednesday published a scorching condemnation of the Republican Party, announcing in a Wall Street Journal editorial that he will vote Democratic in the Texas Railroad Commission race over "bigoted" Republican candidate Bo French. "These people are diminishing the Republican Party, not building it," Rove wrote. "I'll have no part of it. This November, I'll vote for only the second Democrat in my life. The first was Lt. Gov. Bob Bullock in 1994, because I thought he would work with Republicans." He continued, "The second will be Mr. French's opponent, Jon Rosenthal."

John Cornyn of Texas said Thursday that he would not vote for Bo French for Texas railroad commissioner following the candidate's "racist comments," which have drawn intense pushback from lawmakers.
