Kathy Hochul has noted that she’s an “independent, strong, woman” who doesn’t simply take orders from the governor, but she’s rarely shied away from the role of his champion. “The people of the state of New York elected me to be a partner to Gov. Cuomo,” she said in a debate while seeking a second term in 2018.
