Blue-enriched light can improve sleep quality and daily activity in older adults living at home, according to new research. Researchers found that this type of light therapy led to greater daytime activity, earlier bedtimes, regular sleep patterns and improved sleep quality, offering a promising, non-pharmacological approach to address age-related sleep challenges. As people age, their sleep patterns often change, leading to difficulties falling asleep, waking up earlier, more frequent nighttime awakenings, and overall poorer sleep quality. These changes are linked to age-related changes in the eyes and reduced exposure to daylight, often due to decreased mobility and social interactions, alongside...

A study from Tufts University found that daily consumption of pistachios can enhance eye health by increasing macular pigment optical density (MPOD), which helps protect against blue light and age-related eye damage. This benefit is attributed to pistachiosâ unique content of lutein, a plant pigment essential for eye health and potentially useful in preventing age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Daily pistachios boost eye health by raising lutein, protecting against age-related damage, and supporting brain function. A recent study by researchers at Tufts Universityâs Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy suggests that eating pistachios daily may greatly benefit eye health. This...

Too much screen use has been linked to obesity and psychological problems. Now a new study has identified a new problemâa study in fruit flies suggests our basic cellular functions could be impacted by the blue light emitted by these devices. "Our study suggests that avoidance of excessive blue light exposure may be a good anti-aging strategy," advised Giebultowicz. The researchers have previously shown that fruit flies exposed to light "turn on" stress protective genes, and that those kept in constant darkness lived longer. Blue light exposure caused significant differences in the levels of metabolites measured by the researchers in...

The damaging effects of daily, lifelong exposure to the blue light emanating from phones, computers and household fixtures worsen as a person ages, new research suggests. Jaga Giebultowicz examined the survival rate of flies kept in darkness and then moved at progressively older ages to an environment of constant blue light from light-emitting diodes, or LEDs. The darkness-to-light transitions study involved blue light's effect on mitochondria. Mitochondria act as a cell's power plant. In earlier research, Giebultowicz showed that prolonged exposure to blue light affected flies' longevity, regardless of whether it shined in their eyes. "The novel aspect of this...

There is no published evidence to demonstrate that normal environmental (including electronic) exposure to blue light damages eyesight. However it is acknowledged that eye strain can occur from staring at electronics, which can cause fatigue and headaches. Regular breaks from staring at screens (large or small) is recommended to reduce eye strain. There is some evidence that blue light from electronics can disrupt circadian rhythms, however, by suppressing the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates our sleep. This has led electronic manufacturers to offer ânight lightâ settings that reduce the amount of blue light displayed and give your screenâs...

What are these guys doing on the firing range? Why are these guys strolling on an active rifle range as if they're bullet proof? Its obvious this is not gun safety at its finest. Watching the gun violation in this video is totally against what weâve all been taught about gun safety. So for the sake of this article, I will take their side in defense. They are training to know when to shoot and not to shoot. They are building up their confidence level. (Instructors and shooters) What if this video was highlighting our "Blue Light" tactical team predecessor...

Our cell phones are practically connected to us. Now, scientists at the University of Toledo say the blue light that comes from electronics is doing permanent damage to our vision. A dark room at the University of Toledo is where researchers have found blue light, specifically, leads to macular degeneration.

A mysterious light display appearing over Norway last night has left thousands of residents in the north of the country baffled. Witnesses from Trøndelag to Finnmark compared the amazing sight to anything from a Russian rocket to a meteor or a shock wave - although no one appears to have mentioned UFOs yet. The phenomenon began when what appeared to be a blue light seemed to soar up from behind a mountain. It stopped mid-air, then began to circulate.
