The controversial super PAC Special Operations for America, led by former Navy SEALs, is set to release a blistering new ad against President Obama Tuesday at the Republican National Convention. The ad, titled “Bow to Nobody,” depicts Navy SEALs in combat situations; it then proclaims that they fight so that America will not have to bow to anybody. Then the punch line: the infamous photo of Obama bowing to the Saudi king. The ad is sure to provoke massive consternation on the left, which has been in a frenzy ever since Special Operations for America launched. The event at which...

Winter is coming.... The time will come when winter will ask you what you were doing all summer. - Henry Clay I love the story of the Little Red Hen. It is an amazing metaphor for what we truly should be looking for in our current society. It is what, "We The People" are missing on the most basic level. If you don't remember the story, here is a quick recap for you; Come on over to "The Event" to read more; http://www.preparespokane.blogspot.com/2012/08/winter-is-coming.html

The pundits and talking heads are talking about how badly we're being outraised by the other side. You've heard it from us, too. Three months in a row, Mitt Romney and the Republican Party have trounced our fundraising totals. And, along with allied outside groups, they're using that cash to try to obliterate our side on the airwaves, outspending us in some battleground states by margins of up to three to one. The pundits are saying this is how we could lose the election. You know what I say? When you get knocked down, get up. There's no quit in...

Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan,Make no mistake. This country’s future rests in your hands. This is not the time for timidity or for reticence. It is a time to pull out all the stops and crush your enemy decisively. Because your opponent plays by a completely different rule book than you and he plays to win absolutely. His mantra is “win at all costs” and by any means necessary. His belief system tells him that the ends justify the ends. This not a gentlemanly game of chess you’re playing. And while you are engaged in a pugilistic struggle of immeasurable...

GLAAD is criticizing a Utah NBC affiliate’s decision not to broadcast The New Normal this fall. "While audiences, critics and advertisers have all supported LGBT stories, KSL is demonstrating how deeply out of touch it is with the rest of the country,” the group's president says. Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler's new comedy, which tells the story of a single mother who becomes a surrogate for a same-sex couple, was deemed “inappropriate” by Salt Lake City-based KSL-TV. "Same-sex families are a beloved part of American television thanks to shows like Modern Family, Glee and Grey’s Anatomy," GLAAD president Herndon Graddick...

University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman has said her college needs to be a global leader when dealing with energy sustainability. Yet, Coleman's own university provided residence has the most expensive energy costs among state universities, both in total costs and cost per square feet, with a gas-electric-steam bill reaching nearly $30,000 in one year. When receiving a grant for "sustainablity fellows" from Dow Chemical last year to help people "live cleaner, greener and sustainably," Coleman said: "[This partnership] is broad and comprehensive as sustainablity itself, and frankly, I believe it is the only way to solve problems as...

Famed atheist Richard Dawkins sat down with Playboy Magazine to discuss “the simple beauty of evolution, the improbability of God and why the pope should be arrested,” among other subjects. As usual, Dawkins took a provocative approach in the interview — one that people of faith will surely find offensive. These contentious anti-religious views appear in the September issue of Playboy. (VIDEO AT LINK) Toward the beginning of the interview, Dawkins was asked to weigh in and explain why, in the past, he has called himself a “tooth faith” agnostic. His explanation essentially frames his overarching views on God’s existence....

This was sent to Tikkun on email from Cath News and a column called “The Not-So-Social-Gospel.” It is a powerful reminder both of how far sections of the Christian world have strayed from the teachings of Jesus, and also a reminder of the tens of millions of Catholics who are deeply dedicated to social justice, peace, generosity and love (even though unfortunately they are stuck in a church whose leadership is more interested in demonizing gays and abortions and attacking American Nuns who take Jesus’ teachings seriously than in carrying on the progressive elements in Jesus’ gospel). It saddens us...

A 2011 Wind Technologies Report released by the U.S. Department of Energy in August highlights how dependent wind energy is upon government subsidies. The report cites government aid as two of the three key factors that contributed to growth in the market in 2011. The continuation of state and federal incentives for wind energy and the ability to meet construction deadlines to qualify for a federal grant program were two of the factors. The report states that forecasts for 2013 and beyond span a wide range "depending in large measure on assumptions about the possible extension of federal incentives." The...

Guilford College in North Carolina is poised to raise the prices they charge students for health insurance by 75 percent as a direct result of the implementation of President Obama’s landmark healthcare legislation, administrators told Campus Reform late last week. The price for university provided health care is expected to rise from $668 to $1,179 for the 2012-2013 school year, Greg Bursavich, who is the Vice President for Finance at Guilford College, told students in a letter late last month. “Our student health insurance policy premium has been substantially increased due to changes required by federal regulations issued on March...

The Reverend Al Sharpton spoke words of wisdom to a Bethel Baptist Church crowd for Social Justice Awareness Sunday evening. Sharpton emphasized three reasons why he was particularly motivated to travel to Tallahassee to speak: the Champion case, the Trayvon Martin case and voter suppression – all in Florida. Among the crowd were the parents of Florida A&M Student Robert Champion and Trayvon Martin. Today marks six months since Martin’s death at the age of 17 and just over nine months since 26-year-old Champion died. “We are still recovering,” said Sybrina Fulton. Sharpton admired the fact that the Martin family’s...

A new Chick-Fil-A restaurant on the UTPA campus in Edinburg was greeted by protestors on the first day of classes. Students and staff all clamored to buy meals from the new restaurant early Monday afternoon. But a small group of protestors has stationed themselves outside restaurant. The UTPA Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Alliance is circulating a petition to have the school close the Chick-Fil-A. Working from behind a security fence, the group collected signatures from supporters. Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy recently set off a firestorm of controversy and created a national debate about gay rights. Cathy confirmed more than...

Statistics on book sales at Amazon show that conservative titles are out-selling liberal titles by a 56% to 44% margin. Fearing that this may create the impression that conservative ideas are winning, Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod cautioned that “we not leap to unwarranted conclusions based on these numbers.” “Reading is an activity favored by intellectually curious and verbally oriented people,” Axelrod argued. “This is neither a majority of the population nor a strong Democratic demographic. It does not represent the sizable contingent of persons who respond emotively to more pictographic stimuli.” Axelrod pointed out that “since the more viscerally...

Erin Cummings is a Los Angeles actress who worked on the television show "Detroit 1-8-7," a short-lived series that was shot in Michigan and received money from taxpayers as part of the state’s film subsidy program. The legislature has scaled back the Michigan film tax credits, which previously awarded up to a 42 percent subsidy to select filmmakers. Most of this money went to Hollywood studios and productions. Though she is back in LA and a native of Texas, Cummings has a place in her heart for Michigan from her time working here and is an advocate for the subsidy....

Last Friday I went into Barnes & Noble bookstore in Glendale, CA. Displayed prominently in the front of the bookstore in both the new arrivals shelf and the best selling shelves were a number of anti-Obama books including most notably The Amateur. There were no pro-Obama books prominently displayed in the front part of the store. What a marked contrast from 2008! Back in the day the Glendale-Pasadena area was rock ribbed Goldwater-Reagan Country. Now days the area is just about as liberal as Santa Monica or Beverly Hills. Obama carried both Pasadena and Glendale easily in 2008. That's why...

...These gloomy jackasses are the very same people who forced Mitt Romney on the conservatives in the first place with the mantra "He can Win! Its all about winning!" And now these mealy mouthed cowards are already trying to set up conservatives for blame if their hand-selected winnable candidate loses. I hate these people. Stop it! Shut up! You are idiots! You want to know how you get Hispanic voters? I will tell you. Govern like a principled conservative, be the party of liberty, life, and prosperity and Hispanics will see that it works and then they will vote for...
