The National Baptist Convention of America (NBCA) is one of the largest black religious organizations in the country, often hosting annual gatherings that draw prominent speakers. This year, Louisiana appeals court judge Sharon Wilson took the stage and delivered, unsurprisingly, an inflammatory and politically charged race-baiting speech. Wilson accused Donald Trump of harboring racist motivations and claimed his criticism of Haitian immigrants stemmed from his supposed anger over the Haitian Revolution—an event over 230 years old. Even I was dumbfounded by the sheer stupidity of that claim. The leap in logic here would be laughable if it weren’t so reckless....

WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes made headlines earlier this month when she inaccurately stated that Caitlin Clark needed five seasons to break Kelsey Plum's all-time scoring record. “If Kelsey Plum set that record in four years, well, Caitlin should’ve broke that record in four years,” Swoopes said. “But because there’s a COVID year, and then there’s another year, you know what I mean? So she’s already had an extra year to break that record. So, is it truly a broken record? I don’t know. I don’t think so. But yeah, that’ll go in the record books. And, I don’t think it...

White Tennessee Democrat Congressman Steve Cohen was incensed that Super Bowl fans did not stand in respect for what he called the “Negro National Anthem” during Sunday night’s big game. As it has for the last several championship games, the NFL opened the Super Bowl with the song “Life Every Voice and Sing,” which many agitators have proclaimed to be “the black national anthem.” Of course, it isn’t a “national anthem” at all, but regardless, Congressman Cohen was not happy that the video of fans in the stands showed that not many were standing as R&B singer Andra Day performed...

The incendiary remarks of Attorney General Letitia James, where she characterized the Trump administration as “too male, too pale, and too stale,” have once again come to the public forefront. ...... Snip...... The renewed focus on James’s comments comes at a time when Trump’s team is doubling down on their criticism of the Attorney General’s involvement in the lawsuit. Mayor Eric Adams declared himself “the symbol of black manhood in this city, in this country” during a speech last week at a Brooklyn church, where he again defended his outsized reaction to a 84-year-old Holocaust survivor who dared to question him at a community forum. Hizzoner’s comments came Sunday at the Christian Cultural Center in Starrett City, as he continued to allude to his June 28 exchange with housing-rights advocate Jeanie Dubnau, whom he compared to a plantation owner at the town hall meeting after she “disrespected” him by griping about new rent increases for rent-stabilized apartments citywide. Adams...

Victor Glover will make history as the first black astronaut to orbit the moon, piloting next year’s Artemis II mission, but for some incomprehensible reason, he has decided to make the mission just as much about race by invoking a 1970s poem titled, “Whitey On the Moon.” In an interview with Axios on Monday, Glover, who is also a US Navy Captain, claimed that the United States is in a similar place as it was when the original Apollo program was launched. The poem is being used to illustrate his point. Many Americans would contend that the claim is untrue...

Walters Endowed Chair for Race and Black Politics. “The work she has been doing on voter registration and voting irregularities, especially in Georgia but across the country, speaks to a lot of what Ronald Walters embodied,” Howard President Wayne A.I. Frederick said of Abrams, according to a report by Washington Post. “This appointment is extremely important for our students,” said the university president, who went on to say that when it comes to topics of black...

President Barack Obama described his political opponents as angry, racist, and sexist during a private conversation with some of Europe’s elites this summer, according to a newly revealed transcript. “Sometimes it just turns out they’re mean, they’re racist, they’re sexist, they’re angry,” Obama said. “And your job is then to just beat them because they’re not persuadable.” Obama offered his candid advice privately to European leaders in June after speaking publicly at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit in June. But he also warned attendees away from sometimes getting too “filled up in our own self-righteousness.” “We’re so convinced that we’re right...

With the simple stroke of a pen, President Biden has the unique opportunity to unlock financial freedom for countless Black Americans and low-income communities. But according to CNN reporting, he might cancel just $10,000 of student loan debt per borrower for those earning less than $125,000 a year. That would do little to help.

Tatum struggled in the NBA Finals, averaging 3.8 turnovers in 6 gamesThere’s a lot to criticize about Jayson Tatum’s performance in the 2022 NBA Finals. During the six Finals games, Tatum averaged just 21.5 points, 7.0 assists, and 6.8 rebounds. He also averaged 3.8 turnovers per game, even though his regular season career average is 2.1. Needless to say, those stats are underwhelming and ultimately didn’t get the job done as the Celtics lost the series 4-2. However, former Warriors guard Nick Young didn’t mention any of that in his tweet throwing shade at Tatum. Instead, Young called Tatum out...
