So apparently Bengal Village in East London has the "hottest curry in London." It features 72 types of chilis, including the Carolina Reaper, scotch bonnet, bird's eye, naga and snake chilis, so it's pretty spicy stuff. They do a challenge with this dish -- a challenge which you have to sign a waiver to attempt. And if you can't tell by this next video, it's pretty intense. • Fish Sticks Make No Sense How a weird 1950s finger food made it big

There are many curious facts about fish sticks. The invention of this frozen food warranted a U.S. patent number, for instance: US2724651A. The record number of them stacked into a tower is 74. And, every year, a factory in Germany reportedly produces enough fish sticks to circle Earth four times. But the most peculiar thing about fish sticks may be their mere existence. They debuted on October 2, 1953, when General Foods released them under the Birds Eye label. The breaded curiosities were part of a lineup of newly introduced rectangular foods, which included chicken sticks, ham sticks, veal sticks,...

FOOD giants Birds Eye, Taco Bell and caterers Brakes all confirmed today that horsemeat has been found in their beef products. BIRDS EYE confirmed two products withdrawn as a precaution last week have tested positive: a spaghetti bolognese and beef lasagne all made in Belgium. US-owned TACO BELL has had to withdraw ground beef from its three Mexican-themed diners in the UK and nine in Spain. The meat was used in its tacos, burritos, gorditas, chalupas and Nachos. A spokesman admitted the chain knew LAST WEEK that there was a problem and withdrew the meat. But it only decided to...

Bird’s-Eye View of the Amazon Airborne Archaeologist Challenges the Myth of a Pristine Wilderness by Ted Mann In the office of a typical archaeologist, you would expect to find things like stone tools, pottery fragments, and maybe even a few Wooly Mammoth bones. But Clark Erickson is no typical archaeologist. Oversize rolls of aerial photographs are stacked into tubular pyramids on a desk and worktable in his University Museum office. They fill up file cabinets and populate a storage room. At last count, he had about 700 giant aerial and satellite images—almost all of them picturing some region of the...
