SEBRING, Florida (CNN) -- A couple of hours up the road from where some September 11 hijackers learned to fly, the new head of Aryan Nation is praising them -- and trying to create an unholy alliance between his white supremacist group and al Qaeda. "You say they're terrorists, I say they're freedom fighters. And I want to instill the same jihadic feeling in our peoples' heart, in the Aryan race, that they have for their father, who they call Allah."

President Joe Biden signaled optimism Tuesday that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) would not block his radical entitlement spending bill, despite questioning the president’s plan for the government to spend additional trillions. “Joe, at the end, has always been there. He’s always been with me,” Biden said to reporters at the White House after returning from a trip to New York and New Jersey.

A man wanted for his role in an alleged $35 million Ponzi scheme was arrested Monday after evading FBI agents by swimming into California’s largest reservoir using an underwater “sea scooter,” federal prosecutors said. Matthew Piercey spent nearly 30 minutes in frigid Lake Shasta using the Yamaha 350Li submersible device before he eventually resurfaced and was handcuffed, the Sacramento Bee reported. It wasn't immediately known if the 44-year-old has an attorney. Agents later learned Piercey had a sea scooter, a motorized device that pulls users underwater at speeds of about 4 miles per hour, the newspaper said.

A woman who blogs in her spare time has Child Protective Services arrive at her house to interview her: You can read the whole scary story here. Sounds to me like CPS got a “tip” from a real lunatic. I guess they have to pursue everything, but it shouldn’t have been so difficult to see what was going on in this case. In a just world, the person who made this accusation would be prosecuted for malicious damage to this family.

Sean Penn is at it again, shooting off his mouth at a news conference for the Toronto International Film Festival and calling President Bush "Beelzebub." Penn used the biblical term for a prince of devils while promoting the remake of the political drama "All the King's Men" on Sunday. "One could make the argument that George Bush is a good politician," Penn said at one point. Then he added: "I think the issue is how you define politician. Once upon a time, politics was the organization of things to benefit the people." Penn said the definition has changed – much...

Hair-gelled Celt may have been sacrificed LAURA ROBERTSExperts recreated the head of the Iron Age man. THE hair-gelled head of an ancient Celt, dubbed the Iron Age Beckham because of his slicked-back look, has been reconstructed by Scots scientists. Examinations of the Clonycavan man, found fully preserved in a peat bog in Ireland, revealed he used a gel made from a mixture of plant oil and pine resin, believed to be from south-west France or Spain, on his hair. The discovery has been held up as the first evidence of the trade of luxury goods between Ireland and Southern Europe...

NEW YORK - Foxy Brown says she hasn't heard another person's voice in six months and will have surgery early next year to restore her hearing. The 26-year-old rapper was diagnosed with sudden hearing loss in May while she was recording her upcoming album, she told reporters Thursday. "I ask only for your continued prayers and compassion as I embrace the blessings of my journey," Brown said, her voice at times choking up and tears coming to her eyes. She was accompanied by supporters including Russell Simmons and his wife, Kimora Lee Simmons, and Brown's new lawyer, Joseph Fleming. Brown's...

The Sunday Times November 20, 2005 Scientists show we’ve been losing face for 10,000 years Jonathan Leake, Science Editor THE human face is shrinking. Research into people’s appearance over the past 10,000 years has found that our ancestors’ heads and faces were up to 30% larger than now. Changes in diet are thought to be the main cause. The switch to softer, farmed foods means that jawbones, teeth, skulls and muscles do not need to be as strong as in the past. The shrinkage has been blamed for a surge in dental problems caused by crooked or overlapping teeth. “Over...

Bird flu may have been brought into UK earlier than thought By Roger Highfield, Science Editor (Filed: 25/10/2005) The possibility that bird flu could already be present in Britain is being studied by Government vets who are investigating whether the potentially lethal strain contaminated a quarantine "facility" in Essex much earlier than thought. As vets investigated how H5N1 influenza came to infect a parrot from South America, which is unaffected by this strain, the European Union, the world's biggest importer of wildfowl, said it was ready to propose a temporary ban on imports. The H5N1 virus - which has only...

Democratic Party goes on offensive By Phil Dean It seems odd to those of us who remember the Democratic Party in its heyday: It was the party of ideas, the party that set the agenda, the party that created the New Deal and the Great Society. But something happened on the "Bridge to the 21st Century" and the Democratic Party is today struggling for relevancy and appeal in an age of conservative ascendancy. The great European socialist experiments have not succeeded in creating an alternative to free-market capitalism for which the progressive movement had hoped. For the Democratic Party born...

Has Genghis' Tomb Been Found? After four years' work, a joint team of Japanese and Mongolian archaeologists announced on October 4 that they had found what they believe to be the true mausoleum of Genghis Khan (1162-1227). The ruins, dated to between the 13th and 15th century, were found at Avraga, around 250 kilometers east of Ulan Bator, the capital of the People's Republic of Mongolia. Team members said that they expect the discovery to provide clues to the whereabouts of the khan's actual burial site, which they believe may be within 12 kilometers of the mausoleum. There is a...

In mid-July, when the budget stalemate started to drag, the governor’s office announced a press conference. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared in the Capitol pressroom and blamed the standoff on “special interests” causing “chaos.” Schwarzenegger singled out trial lawyers for supporting the “sue your boss” law, passed during the last days of the previous administration to give workers the right to sue employers for various transgressions. He also accused labor unions of blocking an effort to let school districts contract out school services such as busing rather than stick with union contracts. “I’ve always said, 'When the special interests push me...

CLINTON'S PRESIDENCY: WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN Sat Jun 26, 8:00 PM ET By Cynthia Tucker Bill Clinton hopes to be acquitted by history. Fortunately for him, though, no subject of history is ever around to hear its verdict. Scholars will probably wonder what drove legions of conservatives to hate Clinton with such fury that they wasted years and spent a king's ransom trying to drive him from office. They will no doubt note that Clinton accomplished much despite the "vast right-wing conspiracy": He righted the nation's finances after decades of dangerous deficits. He drove the initiative that stopped a pogrom...

"I heard he might have been killed or captured," the official said, citing sources in his political...
