Anti-war protesters clash with pro-Israel confreres Thousands march down Market, want troops out of Iraq Thousands of protesters took to the sunny streets of downtown San Francisco on Saturday, hoping to turn public outrage over prisoner abuse in Iraq into demands to withdraw U.S. troops. A crowd estimated at 8,000 to 10,000 by both police and protest organizers gathered at United Nations Plaza, then marched down Market Street around noon to Justin Herman Plaza, where they listened to speakers demand an end to the U.S. military presence in Iraq. As they neared the Embarcadero, the protesters ran into about 500...

Thousands of Americans braved the rains and marched in Washington Saturday, June 5, to protest American occupation of Iraq and mark Israel 's seizure of Arab lands in 1967. The demonstrators, including mothers and fathers of soldiers who oppose the Iraq war, marched from outside the White House to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s house. The carried banners urging an end to the occupation of Palestine , Afghanistan , Iraq and Haiti Michael Berg, the father of civilian Nicholas Berg who was beheaded in Iraq , was one of the key speaker at the rally. He exhorted people of the...

So, unfortunately, Ron Dog couldn't organize a counter protest to A.N.S.W.E.R.'s communist front anti-war rally today in downtown Los Angeles (yes ACLU, named after Angels of the Christian God). The ProtestWarriors were there, 3 strong, and two part time freeperettes. Obviously we were out-numbered. I think I got there first, as I walked around the starting point at Olympic and Broadway, I figured there would be some type of Conservative turnout. I asked an L.A.P.D. officer where the Conservatives, if any, would be staging. The officer answered that there was none scheduled or permitted, but he saw fit to give...

The northern Virginia-based Muslim Students' Association (MSA) might easily be taken for a benign student religious group. It promotes itself as a benevolent, non-political entity devoted to the simple virtue of celebrating Islam and providing college students a healthy venue to develop their faith and engage in philanthropy. Along these lines, its constitution declares the MSA's mission as serving "the best interest of Islam and Muslims in the United States and Canada so as to enable them to practice Islam as a complete way of life."[1] Today, over 150 MSA chapters exist on American college campuses (divided into five regional...

NEW YORK: The national leadership of Workers World Party met here on May 23 and selected party candidates to run in this year's presidential election. Representatives from party branches around the country gave their unanimous approval--and a cheering, standing ovation--to a proposal from the Secretariat of the National Committee that the candidates for president and vice president, respectively, be John Parker of Los Angeles and Teresa Gutierrez of New York. The selection of Parker and Gutierrez reflects their valuable work in the party over many years, their commitment to the struggle of the multinational working class in this country...

Like a lot of you, I was willing to cut Nick Berg's father a lot of slack considering the tragedy of his son's death, but this is disgusting: George Bush never looked into Nick's eyes. Even more than the murderers who took my son's life, I condemn those who make policies to end lives.

It was an interesting day in Nashville, Tennessee. While President Bush was here for a technology conference at Vanderbilt University and a $25,000 a plate Republican fundraiser local and Federal law enforcement descended on an American Airlines jet at Nashville International suspected of having explosive materials present. A bomb dog was guilty of having too fine a nose, signaling for a computer case that belonged to a farmer who had been handling fertilizer shortly before his flight. Fortunately the President was using an alternative airport on this trip. A.N.S.W.E.R./MoveOn.org, members and their puppets were out in force. Around 100 protestors...

When I eulogized my son, Nick, I said that he was my teacher and my hero. He was the kindest, gentlest man I know — no, the kindest, gentlest human being I know or have ever known. Did you know that he quit the Boy Scouts of America because they wanted to teach him to fire a handgun? Nick, too, poured into me the strength I needed and still need to tell the world about him. People ask me why I focus on putting the blame for my son's tragic and atrocious end on the Bush administration. They ask: "Don't...

Witch hunts. Red-baiting. McCarthyism. Inquisition. Since the passing of the Patriot Act, the emergence of an enigmatic no-fly list and the galvanizing push to wage war on Iraq, critics have used the above terms to characterize the pro-war camp and its supporting press, both of which were seen as recklessly and manipulatively branding all dissenters as unpatriotic, and sometimes treasonous and traitorous as well. "100,000 march to give comfort and aid to Saddam," read one headline following the first large anti-war protest in the capital. Untold however, was the ironic story of a similar struggle within the anti-war camp, where...

Well the Nick Berg slaughter is getting curious. We find out he met Moussoui at OU, by chance, or was it? He had a copy of the Koran and an anti-semitic book. He was growing a islamist type of beard. He has a muslim relative in Mosul. He was also a technological genius. And when you notice in the video he doesnt seemed to care so much about his fate, as if maybe in his mind the video is rigged and he will just simply get up and go home after it. His father is acting weird to. He tells the...

New on the Web: AmericasDumbestSoldiers.com. No, it's not a backhanded tribute to Abu Ghraib's pinheaded prisoner-abusing perverts but a gallery of American servicemen who've died in action. The site's whois entry suggests it is based in Mexico City, but it doesn't tell us who's behind it.
