Before I entered Howard in January 1997, I did some volunteer work, campaign work around Ohio. I also came to Washington. I volunteered for Clinton’s campaign. I did the conventions. I was doing freelance stuff between Cincinnati and Washington, D.C. I had a cute little apartment in Cincinnati, and I had a fire and lost everything. Even the Red Cross came out.
