Alexandra Wallace, the southern California undergraduate who apologized for her recent YouTube rant about the “hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every single year,” said Friday that she will no longer be attending classes at UCLA. In a statement to the college newspaper, The Daily Bruin, Wallace said, “the harassment of my family, the publishing of my personal information, death threats and being ostracized from an entire community” has caused her to leave the university.

UCLA announced Friday that it would not discipline or further investigate the student who released a controversial online video in which she complained about Asian students' behavior and mimicked an Asian language. But later in the day, the student, Alexandra Wallace, announced that she was withdrawing from UCLA because of death threats and because she had been "ostracized from an entire community." In a statement released to the Daily Bruin, UCLA's student newspaper, she apologized for offending Asians and called the video a mistake. Wallace's three-minute video had triggered a national discussion about racial stereotyping and what authority, if any,...

The UCLA political science student also faulted Asian students for disrupting her studies at the library...

A UCLA student has received multiple death threats in response to her video “Asians in the Library,” which was posted Friday. In the video, third-year political science student Alexandra Wallace makes a number of disparaging comments about Asian students. “The problem is these hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every single year,” Wallace said in the video. She described her annoyance at Asian students talking noisily in the library, and imitated one student with the phrase, “Ohhhh. Ching chong ling long ting tong.” The video quickly went viral and, despite being removed by Wallace on Sunday,...

LOS ANGELES — When Alexandra Wallace recorded her rant about Asian students using cellphones in the library at the University of California, Los Angeles, she was alone, speaking to her computer. But since she posted the three-minute video to YouTube, Ms. Wallace, a third-year political science student at U.C.L.A., has achieved a sudden, unwelcome celebrity: her video has been viewed by millions of people, and she has become the subject of nationwide condemnation and the catalyst of a debate about racial intolerance and free speech. “Please expel this ignorant woman immediately,” Kiki Gyrle wrote on Facebook, where there are many...
