A UCLA student has received multiple death threats in response to her video “Asians in the Library,” which was posted Friday.
In the video, third-year political science student Alexandra Wallace makes a number of disparaging comments about Asian students.
“The problem is these hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every single year,” Wallace said in the video.
She described her annoyance at Asian students talking noisily in the library, and imitated one student with the phrase, “Ohhhh. Ching chong ling long ting tong.”
The video quickly went viral and, despite being removed by Wallace on Sunday, has since been reposted under different accounts on YouTube and other websites.
[ Wallace contacted university police early Sunday evening after receiving numerous threats via e-mail and phone, said UCPD spokeswoman Nancy Greenstein. UPDATED: UCPD cannot confirm or deny that any of the threats were death threats. ]
Police advised her to take a number of precautions and are currently working to ensure her safety, Greenstein said.
“If she’s received a death threat, I find that as deplorable as her original YouTube video. If this is the response of students on campus, we’ve got a lot of work to do,” said Robert Naples, associate vice chancellor and dean of students.
Within three days, the video provoked a tremendous response, both inside and outside the UCLA community.
Speaking Sunday night, a university spokesman called the video “repugnant.”
Wallace sent a statement to the Daily Bruin early Monday morning apologizing for her remarks.
“Clearly the original video posted by me was inappropriate,” she said in the statement. “I cannot explain what possessed me to approach the subject as I did, and if I could undo it, I would. I’d like to offer my apology to the entire UCLA campus."

Imagine if her video were about black or hispanic students in the library.
She probably want eyeballs to some blog.
She probably doesn’t like Asians ‘cause they get better grades than she does.

I know the pulse of this city. It’s a segregated one.
Whites dont want to talk to non-whites, hispanics talk to you in spanish, blacks talk amongst themselves. Because I have Italian blood and look Italian, the persian jews greet me like I;m one of them which is weird. She was just fed up with with the truth but her real stupidity is making a video about it.

I agree with one thing, WHY ARE WE EDUCATING FOREIGNERS, every person not American born is displacing an American that can be served by college. I can understand, if someone comes here, gets an education, then stays. Or if they get last openings, but recruiting foreign nationals is plain dumb.
So her claims/complaints were that there are too many Asians at the school, Asian students talk on cell phones in the library, and too many relatives come on weekends to cook for them.
She also mimicked their speaking just as rosie odonell did.

OOOps, left out that she said they were probably checking on relatives in the Tsunami and they should do it outside the library.

Amazing what can be done with a little bit of high-tech recording equipment and the knowledge to use it.

I'm curious what you think on these: Why should a university not select the best students possible? Why should universities pay for grad students when they can get students who will pay cash for all tuition?
Yeah, in a few years some poor guy will give her a house and a bunch of kids to share with her new boyfriend. I’m just glad it won’t be me.
If only she had made a God Hates Fags and Loves Dead Soldiers video. Then the Justice Department would come in and defend her right to free speech.
There are only so many people that can be taught in one given year, why give valuable spots to foreigners? Make Grad students pay, what else is there to say? As to recruiting the best students, are you sure they are not just paying for their social engineered veneer, with money from foreigners that covers up the hidden costs? How would you feel if you local public school, recruited Chinese nationals, because they would live in the district and pay higher taxes on their property?
