It looked more like a scene out of the “The Sound of Music” in Austria than the G7 Summit in Germany. In between family photos with leaders at the G7 Summit, cameras caught German Chancellor Angela Merkel animatedly speaking with a relaxed President Obama. The photo of Merkel with her arms outstretched prompted comparisons to Julie Andrews’ famous twirling scene in the Austrian Alps in “The Sound of Music.”

Martha Raddatz is the moderator of tonight’s vice presidential debate. In 1991, Barack Obama attended her wedding. A year later, her then-husband, now a high level administration appointee and a personal friend of the president, attended the Obamas’ wedding. Irrelevant information? Put it this way: If Raddatz were a judge, she’d likely have to recuse herself from cases pertaining to the Obamas. We’re not arguing that Raddatz will slant tonight’s debate in the Obama campaign’s favor —any more than a member of Congress would automatically vote for an appropriation simply because it helps a campaign contributor. We are arguing that...

The Commission on Presidential Debates is downplaying a new report by the conservative website 'The Daily Caller' about President Barack Obama's ties to Martha Raddatz, the moderator of tomorrow night's vice presidential debate. The article, currently atop Drudge Report, notes that Obama worked on the Harvard Law Review with Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later appoint chair of the Federal Communications Commission, and was a guest at his 1991 wedding to Raddatz -- raising accusations that Raddatz has a conflict of interest heading into tomorrow's debate, despite the fact that Raddatz has long-since divorced Genachowski and remarried. (Also on POLITICO:...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH. So let's see. Martha Raddatz, who is going to moderate the vice presidential debate on Thursday night between Paul Ryan and Joe Bite Me, hosted Barack Obama at her wedding. She used to be married to the FCC commissioner, Julius Genachowski. Raddatz, Genachowski, and Obama all went to Harvard. (Who didn't in this regime?) Now ABC's doing everything they can to say, "Oh, it doesn't matter! Nothing to see here. What does that mean?" Well, how about she tell us who she voted for in 2008? And how about she tell us who she's gonna vote for...

Barack Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of ABC senior foreign correspondent and vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz, The Daily Caller has learned. Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review. After TheDC made preliminary inquiries Monday to confirm Obama’s attendance at the wedding, ABC leaked a pre-emptive statement to liberal-leaning news outlets including Politico and The Daily Beast Tuesday, revealing what may have been internal network pressure felt just days before Raddatz was...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Safe to say that the media has destroyed George Zimmerman. They set out to destroy George Zimmerman, and they've done it. It's unconscionable what they've done. George Zimmerman doesn't have a microphone, can't fight back. He was just singled out and destroyed. The third network has come forward today and admitted that their original interpretation of a tape involving words spoken by Zimmerman may now not be correct. The third network. The first was NBC, which admitted doctoring a 911 tape. This is not an accident that takes place in the hustle and bustle of putting together...

ABC News boldly proclaimed police surveillance video of George Zimmerman being taken into the Sanford police station the night Trayvon Martin was killed showed no blood or bruises from an alleged physical encounter Zimmerman claimed to have had with 17 year-old Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin Video Shows No Blood or Bruises on George Zimmerman A new High Definition clip from the same video appears to make clear that Zimmerman had a gash, or wound of some kind on the back of his head. That would be totally consistent with his version of events on the night in question and opposite...

In the opening of ABC's "World News," anchor Dianne Sawyer says Helen Thomas retired because of "age and outrage." No mention of her anti-Semitic remark.

Though by their own count “thousands” of anti-ObamaCare protesters gathered outside the Capitol building on Saturday, ABC decided to smear the entire cause by stressing the despicable actions of a handful or even fewer as anchor David Muir announced in setting up the first story on Saturday’s World News: “Protesters against the plan gathered on the streets of the capital where late today we learned words shouted turned very ugly, reports of racial and homophobic slurs, one protester actually spitting on a Congressman.” Following the lead story on President Barack Obama’s pep talk to House Democrats, and before Jonathan Karl’s...

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) - The U.S. Embassy in Argentina rejected reports that it had told President George W. Bush's twin daughters to leave the country after a widely publicized purse-snatching incident. ABC News reported on its Web site on Monday that embassy officials had "strongly suggested" that the twins, Jenna and Barbara Bush, cut short their visit to Buenos Aires due to security concerns. Argentine officials confirmed last week that one of Bush's daughters had her purse stolen in San Telmo, a neighborhood popular with tourists. The incident led to teasing by Argentine media about the twins' seemingly ineffective...

WASHINGTON, May 31, 2006 — Thermometers have finally hit the 90's, and Washington is getting the lazy, sultry look that comes as May dissolves into June. We Washingtonians tend to slow down, but the news doesn't. And it won't this summer either, with a decision expected this summer from Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald that will finally determine whether a top White House aide will face serious federal charges in the CIA leak case. Those old enough to remember Watergate will recall the fiercely hot summer of '74, when scandal revelations brought down Richard Nixon's presidency. Now Washington waits to see...

Historical perspective The filibuster has been used historically by the minority party, which can't win with a vote count. Democrats have opposed the filibuster before — in the 1960s, they accused Republicans of using it to block civil rights legislation. "According to the Senate Historical Office, the record for the longest individual speech is held by the late Sen. Strom Thurmond of South Carolina, who filibustered for 24 hours and 18 minutes against the Civil Rights Act of 1957. To keep the floor, he read some of his wife's recipes and passages from novels out loud." ABC News' Ed O'Keefe...
