Rep. Pete King (N.Y.) is the first House Republican to back a bill in the chamber seeking to ban assault weapons. "They are weapons of mass slaughter," King told the New York Daily News on Monday shortly after his support for the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019 as a co-sponsor became public on Congress's website. “I don’t see any need for them in everyday society,” he added.

Gun sales broke records yet again in the month of March. The FBI performed 2,523,265 firearms-related background checks between March 1 and March 31, according to the agency’s records. That’s a new record for the month. It’s nearly 35,000 more checks than the previous record set in March 2014. Despite the new record, March saw the fewest checks of any month so far in 2016. The March record is the eleventh straight monthly record for background checks. The unprecedented streak, which began in May 2015, has included all-time records for both monthly and yearly sales. With 7,682,141 checks processed...
  • SHOT Show: The Last Bastion of Growing Conservatism

Last week, I attended the largest gun and outdoors show in the world; the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show. The annual Las Vegas event is so huge that only those who work in the industry are allowed to attend. The show doesn't receive much mainstream news coverage because the left-wing media doesn't want the public to know how many patriotic Americans are in the gun industry. Attendance increases every year, with 67,000 attending this year. There were 1,600 exhibitors, and over 400 companies were waitlisted. Conservatives have been losing ground in virtually every area in politics except the Second...
  • Larry Elder: Gun control opponents are wise to fear Obama

There goes the "paranoid" take-us- back-to-the-Wild-West National Rifle Association again, hysterically claiming that gun-control advocates are coming for their guns. Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the NRA recently accused President Barack Obama of a secret agenda, to "lull gun owners into a false sense of security." Meanwhile, the president, says La Pierre, engages in "planning and plotting, behind closed doors, to launch a massive anti-gun onslaught when the time is right." Is there a reason for this fear? Or, is the NRA, as one local reporter puts it, "intentionally alarmist"? Five-four Supreme Court decisions can do that to the...
  • Gun Control By Way Of Health Reform

Gun Rights: A decade after Congress forbade the CDC from studying the health consequences of gun ownership, the National Institutes of Health has started funding such research. Will reform pry the guns from our cold, sick hands? More than a decade ago Congress, seeing it as a backdoor assault on the 2nd Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms, voted to cut funding for firearms research by the Centers for Disease Control. Such research was viewed as one-sided and based on flawed assumptions that all gun use was bad, even that which saved lives and deterred crime. The...
