Moments after news broke that the Senate rejected Toomey-Manchin, Governor Palin sent out a congratulatory tweet to free and law abiding Americans. @SarahPalinUSA - "Politicians' expanded gun control effort fails in the Senate today. Count this a victory for the 2nd Amendment and law-abiding citizens. about 3 hours ago. In response, the ever so petulant Piers Morgan sent out the following: "NAUSEATING > @SarahPalinUSA now jubilantly boasting of anti gun control 'victory' on her Twitter feed. No heart, no shame" "Imagine crying 'VICTORY!' as those poor Sandy Hook families weep inside the Senate. Just revolting. @SarahPalinUSA #NewtownBetrayed

A Colorado Democrat who wanted to prevent individuals suspected of posing a threat from possessing a gun quickly backed off that plan after details of the proposal became public late Thursday. Rep. Beth McCann said she's still working on a bill dealing with firearm restrictions for people believed to be a danger, but it's unclear when it could be introduced or what it would look like. She said she made a mistake by releasing a draft of the bill. "It was totally my responsibility for getting it out there," she said just hours after circulating the proposal that was scrapped....

A Clark County judge says Wisconsin’s ban on carrying concealed weapons is unconstitutional. In the case, authorities charged a Sauk City man with carrying a concealed weapon, after he admitted he had a knife in his waistband. He never threatened anyone. In light of the landmark Supreme Court ruling in McDonald v. City of Chicago, attorney William Poss filed a motion to dismiss the case on constitutional grounds. Judge Jon Counsell obliged Wednesday, ruling the law is overly broad and violates both the Second and Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution.

When the lefties are replacing a lefty on the Supreme Court with another lefty, the balance is preserved and the downside to the country is somewhat minimized. Sometimes you need to pick your battles. If Obama were filling Scalia's seat for example, this would be a Battle Royale. I figured that the Republicans can't stop this nominee anyway, unless something big and nasty was unearthed. Methinks this is it. Though she says she supports Heller's holding that the 2nd Amendment prevents the Federal Government from banning guns, still undecided is the issue of whether that holding also applies to state...

On November 20, 2007, the Supreme Court of the United States agreed to hear an appeal of DC vs. Heller, a decision that made good liberals run for the airsickness bag. In Heller, the DC Court of Appeals had ruled that the District of Columbia’s prohibition on handgun ownership and its requirement that long guns be disassembled was a violation of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” The court ruled that the 2nd...

BOUNTIFUL - When Gregg Revell packed his bags for a trip to Pennsylvania last April, he had no idea how far he'd be traveling. Before the week was out, the 57-year-old suburban real estate agent and grandfather would be arrested, thrown into one of the country's most notorious jails, strip searched and inoculated against his will. The soft-spoken Utah native would be on his way to becoming a poster child for the National Rifle Association in a $3 million lawsuit. During a nearly five-day stay in a Newark, N.J., jail, he would meet a terrifying side of America that most...
