Ron DeSantis starts off the week with yet more bad news for his campaign, as the first Rasmussen Reports head-to-head since his glitch-ridden campaign launch shows the Florida Governor actually losing support.A like-for-like study released by Rasmussen on Monday morning reveals DeSantis’s February 2023 numbers at 32 percent with likely Republican voters, whereas he slips to 30 percent in the latest, May poll. And while the Florida Governor’s slippage is with Rasmussen’s three point margin of error, former President Donald Trump’s massive spike in support is definitely not. Ron DeSantis was surely hoping for a bump from his presidential campaign launch last week. But a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows no sign of improvement. In fact, the survey of 1,520 U.S. adults, which was conducted from May 25-30, suggests that the Florida governor may have actually lost ground against frontrunner and former President Donald Trump since officially entering the race for the 2024 GOP nomination during a glitchy Twitter Spaces event with the platform’s billionaire owner Elon Musk. The situation is actually worse than described by the media. Candidate Ron DeSantis cannot hold a public event in the...

Kayleigh McEnany came under attack by her former boss on Truth Social last night. His very thin skin was pierced by the former White House press secretary, now a Fox News host and contributor. Kayleigh quoted a poll number Trump disagreed with and he went full force against her on his social media platform. (snip) Kayleigh was hired by Trump to replace Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I really liked Sarah in the job, too. Both women had the ability to stand firm against the daily attacks by the press corps and defend Trump. They didn’t back down when the dialogue heated...

Which is to say that the 2024 Republican primary is, at this stage, shaping up to be a retread of the one that catapulted Trump to the commanding heights of the American political system. Once again, it is clear that many Republican elites would prefer to have someone other than Trump at the top of the ticket. But once again, those elites — donors, intellectuals, activists — are having a hard time finding a single alternative candidate to challenge the former...

It remains unclear precisely what the prosecutors were hoping to find by sending the subpoena to Mr. Trump’s company, the Trump Organization, or when it was issued.
