Democrats Give in to Veto Threat, Senate Approves $5.5 Billion House-Passed Farm Aid By Philip Brasher The Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) - The Democratic-controlled Senate caved in to a White House veto threat and approved a House-passed package of special farm assistance Friday that provides $2 billion less than Democrats wanted. The $5.5 billion measure now goes to President Bush for his expected signature. The Senate abruptly approved the legislation on a voice vote after Republicans blocked action on a $7.5 billion measure that had been approved by the Senate Agriculture Committee. "The gun was held to our heads and ...

As I have been warning about time and time and time and time again, the West is being lured into a trap by our enemies-of-old for nuclear annihilation. The Middle East is the trigger point for the war of wars, that which is prophesized about in The Bible's Book of Revelation. The trigger man for this conflict, via launching a chemical SCUD missile attack on Israel, is most likely Saddam Hussein. This, at least, is what I believe God has shown to me. No one heeds the warnings I feel I've been called upon to give because people today, ...

There's surely "pond scum" among us and some of them hold high offices, or did hold high offices, in this land of diminishing freedom. Where are the candidates who want to serve rather than be served? I'd like to meet a few. For a nation that forbids royalty and titles of royalty, we certainly have an elected self-anointed ruling elite that feels it is above the law. That wasn't the intent of the founders. It was their intent that the government should serve the people, because the people are the nation. But if the people become scuzzy, why should they ...

Early next year, Brian Feeney will strap himself into a homemade rocket and be launched more than 100 kilometres above the Earth, making him the world's first privately funded astronaut. That's if all goes according to plan. "It's going to be a blast," the 42-year-old industrial designer says with a slow grin. "That will be the first civilian rocket to go into space ... and I will be the first civilian in space." The da Vinci Project is one of two Canadian entries in the race for the X PRIZE, a US$10-million award for the first privately built spaceship to ...

"There Is No Truth In Him. When He Lies, He Speaks His Native Language, For He Is A Liar And The Father Of Lies." Jesus was talking about Satan in that famous passage from John 8:44. Yet he could have been describing gun prohibitionists, a group which lies more fluently and shamelessly than any other in public life. Take Joe Lockhart. In the July 31 Washington Post, Bill Clinton's former flack pretended to offer a moderate new approach to gun control. But his "new" approach smells as fresh as a year-old carton of eggs. Lockhart started on a humble note. ...

State Dept. Condemnation of Israel Herbert Zweibon, Chairman of Americans For a Safe Israel, speaking for the entire membership of AFSI, asserts, "The U.S. State Department, and Secretary of State Colin Powell are entirely out of line in condemning Israel for its "excessive," "reprehensible," "highly provocative," and "too aggressive" action in targeting an Hamas office building and killing two of the most wanted Hamas leaders, Jamal Mansour and Jamal Salim. These men have been responsible for the deaths of at least eighty Israelis and the wounding of at least four hundred, in suicide missions and other deadly attacks that they ...

U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has said that Israel had ``some justification'' when it deliberately killed Palestinians thought to be planning bombings. In remarks that contradict State Department policy on the attacks, Cheney told Fox News on Thursday.``If you've got an organization that has plotted or is plotting some kind of suicide bomber attack, for example, and they (the Israelis) have hard evidence of who it is and where they're located, I think there's some justification in their trying to protect themselves by preempting.''State Department spokesman Richard Boucher repeated on Thursday the long-standing U.S. position that it opposes the Israeli government's ...

Ladies & Gentlemen, Yesterday members of the SCV, LoS and Southern Party of Georgia met at the capitol for the opening day of the reapportionment session. There were two events, one outside and one inside the capitol and I will try to give a general summary of both. Around 100 people responded to the workday opportunity to hold a TRUE Georgia State Flag Rally at the capitol. It was a beautiful sight, all four entrances were covered, especially the one located between the Legislative Office Building and the capitol. As TurnCoat after TurnCoat made their way to the capitol they ...

The US is secretly drawing up detailed plans for the deployment of an observer force to monitor flashpoints in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, resurrecting an idea that seemed to have been killed off by Israeli objections two weeks ago. According to western diplomatic sources, the US is pressing ahead with the observer force and has drawn up a series of options covering numbers, terms of reference and where it should be located in the West Bank and Gaza. Britain and other European countries have been involved in the planning. It is the first positive sign of diplomatic activity for weeks in ...

The City Council favored naming the new Cumberland Drive bridge the "Confederate Soldiers Memorial Bridge" Thursday night. The name passed in a 7-4 vote after Marshall Ross asked that it be amended, adding the word "soldiers." The council did not vote on the other two related items: naming it after former council member Lynnwood Tarpley and the compromise -- a memorandum of understanding between the NAACP and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Robert Hatch, president of NAACP's Clarksville Chapter, said the national NAACP did not support the agreement because it included public funding for a confederate monument. The city had ...

Last month, he angered a federal judge by failing to disclose his Swiss ...
