Some Costco customers are crying fowl over the big-box chain’s popular $4.99 rotisserie chickens, saying they contain preservatives in spite of the company’s claims to the contrary, according to a new lawsuit. Two California-based people say Costco “has systematically cheated” consumers “out of tens — if not hundreds — of millions of dollars” by advertising the poultry as being free of preservatives. The class-action lawsuit, filed last week in San Diego federal court, alleges that Costco makes the claim despite the fact that the rotisserie chickens contain sodium phosphate and carrageenan.

California has borne the brunt of President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, leading the nation with a sharp decline in international migration, according to new U.S. Census Bureau data. The numbers, released Tuesday, reveal a significant drop in international migration across the country. Overall, the nation increased by only 1.8 million which is the lowest growth rate since 2021 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest figures estimate the country’s population at 342 million.

A federal judge in Oregon dismissed a Justice Department lawsuit seeking Oregon’s unredacted voter rolls on Monday in another setback to wide-ranging efforts by President Donald Trump’s administration to get detailed voter data from states.
