A Republican opponent is challenging Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s eligibility to run for governor of Alabama, accusing the football coach-turned-politician of not meeting the legal requirement to have lived in the state for seven years.
Ken McFeeters, who is running against Tuberville for the Republican nomination for governor, filed the challenge Tuesday with the Alabama Republican Party. McFeeters in a phone interview said he believes Tuberville lives in a multimillion-dollar beach home in Florida instead of a smaller home that he has listed as his residence in Auburn, Alabama.
Property tax records show the former Auburn University football coach has a home in Auburn, Alabama with an appraised value of $291,780 on which he claims a homestead exemption. He also has a beach home in Walton County, Florida with an estimated market value of $5.5 million, according to property records.

Selfish GOP types are not something we can afford these days.
Win a primary on issues and experience, not on legal tricks.
Amy Klobuchar wants to run for governor of Minnesota. She lives in Maryland with her husband who is a professor at a college there.
If Tommy is playing loose with the rules he should suffer the consequences of his play.
If someone is in Congress, wouldn’t they be living near D.C.?
Roll tide!
Senator Wyden of Oregon lives in New York City.
Why would he live in NYC? I understanding living in the D.C. area, where a Senator works. I know it’s just over an hour by plane, but...
Seems once they have a Rep. or Sen. in front of their name...playing loose with the rules comes naturally.
All across the country, our representatives do not represent us because they have no idea who we are, how we live, what we care about. They are a thousand miles away enjoying their wine and cheese and skimming off tax dollars.
Maybe we should wait and see if that’s a rental or vacation home before the knives come out?
Tommy would win the big games then lose to teams Auburn was supposed to beat.
I hope he doesn’t screw up this one, he’d be a shoe-in for governor, but like in football he might lose the one he’s not supposed to.
$291,780 is not a lot of home in Auburn with all the new industry moving in.
Here’s an example of a house in that price range:

— Tuberville had to establish residency before running for Senate... so at least a year for that.
— He’s finishing up a 6 year term.
— The alabama constitution requires a seven year residency before running for governor.
— End, over, done... 7 years.

Here in the Minneapolistan area you would have a tough time finding a livable home for that price.
GOOBers shootin’ each other in the foot. Awesome. The Rats are going to kick a lot of ass in the mid terms.
The GOOBs like having their own foreign butt wipers too! As long as wearing brand new Nikes while wiper butts and scrubbing toilets is the “better life” they’ve always wanted, I guess there isn’t much we can do about. Everybody in the U. S. Government now is a yellow coward. Especially the DemonRAT’s Treasonous, weaponized skanky Dipstick judgettes.
Is the appraised value from the tax assessor? Or market value?
That could make a big difference. My house is assessed at about $330,000 for tax purposes, but the market value is about $950,000. In some places, tax assessment values lag behind the market.
I’m sure he rents a room in some lil’ ole bitties’ house. He likes her crochet pillows.
When I was in school at Auburn there was a house for sale for about $110,000. I had the money to buy it (I went back to engineering school after working for 8 years). It’s worth around $500,000 now.
Hyundai and Kia moved in nearby, there are a lot of supplier plants there now, and the whole area has become a small manufacturing hub, like a smaller version of the Triad (Greensboro-High Point-Winston Salem) area of North Carolina.
In some places, tax assessment values lag behind the market.
