I’m reading that the generals in question escaped arrest. That the charade is backfiring against Xi.

My understanding of the CCP is that Xi works for the military, not vice-versa.

Trying to arrest all the top generals at the same time was probably unwise. “Hang together or hang separately.” They have nothing to lose.

I believe this to be a potentially huge story.

Hard to know what is really happening, General Zhang Youxia is their #2 guy and respected by the military. Now Keir Starmer is officially visiting to provide cover for Xi.

Chang rightly has a very low regard for Xi. Any communist leader who worms their way to the top of that bizarre, evil , corrupt system is not likely to be a moral man. However Xi will be remembered as a leader of consequence. During his tenure China grew economically, is a very consequential world player and its influence extends far beyond Asia and the Pacific. History will record that Xi extended its influence in a very real way within America’s weak political and economic structure. He will also be remembered for not making the catostrophic mistake Putin did. Despite the huge investment in armaments especially ships, missiles drones and warplanes, he did not send his one child, combat inexperienced military armed with untested equipment across ninety miles of open ocean to attack Taiwan. A failure with huge casualties would have been politically, economically and militairly a disaster for China, Xi, his family, syncophants and probably the Chinese communist party.

Make no mistake China has evolved from rigid communist, impoverished socialism to a fascist, corporatlist state. Its people do not have freedom or liberty. The next thirty years will show how it will turn out. Xi is likely to retire or die before an existential crisis occurs in fascist China.

I think he will be remembered for his consolidation of power. The other stuff you attributed to him was largely underway before he took over in 2012.

I can't think of an instance where the military overthrew a long established Communist government.

With British Prime Minister Starmer following shortly after his Canadian counterpart in visiting China, you have to wonder if there may be some sort of deal in the works to align the remnants of the British Empire with the CCP.

On a tangential subject, why did Hillary Clinton visit Saudi Arabia? She has been out of government for over a decade and the Obama interests still control the Democratic Party. There may be an intent of working against Trump among Starmer, Carney, and Hillary Clinton and they may be trying to get a feel for how China and Saudi Arabia would react if some action were taken to finish off Trump before 2029.

It seems like there almost was a coup against Xi but he found out just in time and arrested the generals who were plotting it. Let’s see how many are put on trial for “corruption” and how high of rank they are. That will tell you how unstable China is.

When has Gordon Chang ever been right about anything?

Yeah, its hard to root for the other guy, but Xi is a monster.

Starmer and Carney are all in with the CCP control model the WEF wants to deploy globally. Their jobs appear to be to hinder and hamstring and wait out the USA and President Trump.

I saw the Hillary story and wondered much the same. Recall in March of 2024 when that wretch Obama made a show out of visiting 10 Downing Street, a few months later the UK and the world gets Davos worshiper Kier.

Also wondered about the recent 2026 National Defense Strategy (NDS) report easing concerns about China, being done quietly to calm some rattled nerves I suspect.

Evil tidings abound.

The likely truth is a handful of generals had moved their wives overseas and their kids in non China univs. This made them too vulnerable to kidnap/blackmail, so Xi is ending that danger.

They will be given time to get their relations back to China and if they do, restored.
