Senate Approves Bill To Avoid Government Shutdown. House to vote on the bill on Monday.

The U.S. Senate has passed a bill on a vote of 71-29 that funds most of the government to dodge a pending government shutdown.

If passed by the U.S. House and signed into law, the bill would fund most government agencies. However, it delays a vote on funding for the Department of Homeland Security until Feb. 14 because of the objections of Democrat lawakers over the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti and the deportation of illegal immigrants.

The U.S. House is expected to vote on the bill on Monday.

The psyop worked.

GOP is going to “insist” on outlawing Sanctuary Communities - seems like they intend to make this the national issue for 2026 midterms

DHS is fully funded through 2029 already.

Graham is insisting on a vote to criminalize sanctuary cities. That’s a far cry from it being signed into law.

It was secured in the One Big Beautiful Bill, something like $200 billion.

Seems to me that it’s already criminal. Declaring any jurisdiction as a “sanctuary” for illegal aliens is a direct defiance of Federal law.

Martial law should be declared and troops should be sent into any city, county or state that declares it and the authorities who declared it should be arrested and tried for sedition.

Wanna save some time? Just vote to shut down the democratic party. Problem solved.

Why not just insist on voting for the original House bills? Government shuts down...Well, then let the Democrats explain their reasons...Protecting rights of illegal aliens? During the last shutdown, Democrats stated that they were concerned about insurance premiums...Do the swing voters care more about welfare of illegal aliens than high cost of insurance? Really?

I am sure President has good reasons...

This is all optics. If the DHS is fully funded through 2029 as many have said, then why split off their funding into a separate bill?

But, and for the sake of argument, if the funding the DHS is pulled, then what will Trump do? Border security, ICE and other like entities will have no money to operate on, and that's just what the Dems on Capital Hill want. It'll throw everything into chaos, even worse than it is now.

God help us if that ever happens.

ANY/ALL ‘sanctuary {X}’ is already unlawful. As is aiding, abetting, harboring, colluding+ vs. criminal illegal aliens.

Unfort, some animals are more equal in our once Const. Republic.
