Hamas leaders are likely to be emboldened to carry on fighting by French and British proposals to recognize a Palestinian state in a break with Trump.. Frustrated by the deadlocked peace negotiations between Israel and Hamas, and seeing the chances of a two-state solution slipping away, several European countries led by the United Kingdom and France have now promised to recognize an independent Palestinian state to reaffirm their commitment to a permanent settlement. However, far from encouraging a ceasefire in the conflict that has raged in the Gaza Strip for nearly two years, European efforts will only encourage Hamas to...

The NFL world was rocked by the news of Denzel Perryman's arrest, a linebacker for the Chargers, who was detained Friday night on charges of firearm possession. According to public records, Perryman was arrested at 9:41 p.m. and booked at 10:06 p.m. This incident throws a wrench in his anticipated return to the team, where he was set to be a standout starter. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department issued a statement detailing the incident: "On August 1, 2025, at 9:30 p.m., deputies from the South Los Angeles Station stopped Denzel Perryman, a 32-year-old football player for the Los Angeles...

Over three days of sometimes contentious hearings this week, the National Transportation Safety Board interrogated Federal Aviation Administration and Army officials about a list of things that went wrong and contributed to a Black Hawk helicopter and a passenger jet colliding over Washington, D.C., killing 67 people. The biggest revelations: The helicopter's altimeter gauge was broken, and controllers warned the FAA years earlier about the dangers that helicopters presented. At one point NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy scolded the FAA for not addressing safety concerns. “Are you kidding me? Sixty-seven people are dead! How do you explain that? Our bureaucratic process?”...

Ukrainians aged 60 and older can now serve in non-combat roles thanks to new legislation. The elderly Ukrainians will need special approval and get medical clearance before enlisting. The law was passed by the Ukrainian legislature earlier this month and signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, allowing people over the age of 60 to serve in limited roles until martial law in Ukraine is lifted. While the current martial law authorization is set to lapse next month, Zelensky has requested that lawmakers extend it for an additional 90 days. Zelensky’s presidential term has already expired, and he has used...

The Guardian reports that archaeologists excavating at the ancient Roman settlement of Castulo in southern Spain have identified the traces of a building they believe may have once been a synagogue. Near the location of what scholars had once assumed was a fourth- or fifth-century a.d. Christian basilica, the team found fragments of three oil lamps and a roof tile bearing depictions of menorahs, as well as a jar lid inscribed with Hebrew characters. When the researchers reconsidered the identification of the nearby structure as a place of early Christian worship, they found that many features of the building matched...
  • UK Gov’t ‘Disinfo’ Unit Shifts From Lockdown Dissenters To Spying On Mass Migration Critics

A shady government outfit in the UK that was previously tasked with identifying and monitoring COVID lockdown dissenters has been repurposed to spy on critics of mass migration and so called ‘asylum’ hotels, the Telegraph reports. The body, now known as the National Security and Online Information Team (NSOIT) has been lobbying social media companies such as TikTok to take action against users who post what it describes as “concerning narratives” about immigration and ‘two tier policing’. The unit operates within the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and was previously known as the ‘Counter Disinformation Unit’ during the pandemic....

I'm wondering if my memory is accurate. I seem to remember that some people there were some people who tried to convince a Greek American to smuggle money supposedly for Trump from Greece to the US. He suspected a trick and turned the money over to his lawyer in Greece. When he landed in America, he was searched, but when they didn't find the money, they arrested him anyway. Does anyone else remember this?

Americans everywhere are struggling to purchase homes, with sales reaching a 30 year low in 2024. Despite the tribulations of the housing market itself, the number one real estate site in the country - Zillow - is thriving. CEO Jeremy Wacksman sat down with The New York Times to discuss what may be causing the dip in the housing market and what keeps Zillow afloat amidst it all... 'We have an affordability crisis, which is driven by an availability crisis. It is a supply-side problem,' he said. While many complain about increasing mortgage rates, he said that it's only a...
  • BNSF Donates Historic SD70MAC to IRM

BNSF Railway donated a historic SD70MAC to the Illinois Railway Museum. Locomotive 9400 was built in 1993 and is notable for being the first production locomotive (i.e., non-demonstrator) to feature modern AC traction, making it the precursor to thousands of units with this groundbreaking technology. BNSF made the donation earlier this summer, and IRM announced it on July 31. IRM plans to eventually restore the unit to its as-delivered appearance, Burlington Northern’s green and cream “Executive” livery from the early 1990s. Following testing of freight diesels equipped with AC traction motors in the early 1990s, BN ordered the first production...

Once upon a time, in their startling report titled "Bigger Monsters, Weaker Chains," ACLU analysts Jay Stanley and Barry Steinhardt argued that the US was quickly becoming a full-blown "surveillance society," where advanced technology and crumbling regulation come together to create the kind of world that was previously the domain of dystopian science fiction. "The fact is, there are no longer any technical barriers to the Big Brother regime portrayed by George Orwell," they wrote. That was in 2003. In the two decades since, the tech sector has unleashed a tidal wave of innovations like targeted algorithms, always-on location sharing,...

Antifa has become one of the most polarizing forces in modern American politics. Labelled by critics as a violent extremist group and by supporters as anti-fascist defenders, its true identity lies somewhere between the headlines and the chaos in the streets. But where did Antifa come from, and how did it rise to prominence in the 21st century? In this episode, we trace Antifa's ideological roots back to pre-WWII Europe, where militant resistance groups first confronted fascist movements. We explore how those ideals evolved over decades and crossed into the U.S., merging with elements of anarchism, socialism, and direct-action activism....

RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina House voted 72–48 on Tuesday to override Governor Josh Stein’s veto of House Bill 318, officially enacting the Criminal Illegal Alien Enforcement Act. The controversial legislation mandates that sheriffs notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) within two hours when releasing an inmate subject to an immigration detainer and requires a 48-hour hold for federal pickup. They also considered several other bills. Republicans enacted a total of eight bills that Stein had vetoed. With each of those bills passed, support was secured from at least one Democrat in the House to meet the required...

Joe Biden’s allies are reportedly prepared to release damaging stories about Kamala Harris’s vice presidential tenure should she discuss the former president's cognitive decline. The news comes as his one-time sidekick is set to release a new book about her failed presidential campaign. Oh, there ain't enough popcorn on the planet to prepare for this potential public spat. Political journalist Mark Halperin contends that Biden's people are sitting on a bunch of "Palinesque" stories about the former Veep that will expose her as being dreadfully unqualified for the job she once held. “I will tell you, and this has never...
