The NFL world was rocked by the news of Denzel Perryman's arrest, a linebacker for the Chargers, who was detained Friday night on charges of firearm possession. According to public records, Perryman was arrested at 9:41 p.m. and booked at 10:06 p.m. This incident throws a wrench in his anticipated return to the team, where he was set to be a standout starter.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department issued a statement detailing the incident: "On August 1, 2025, at 9:30 p.m., deputies from the South Los Angeles Station stopped Denzel Perryman, a 32-year-old football player for the Los Angeles Chargers, for vehicle code violations. During the stop, deputies discovered five firearms in Perryman's vehicle, two of which were assault rifles."

This is disgusting. It shows how absolutely insane California has gone on the whole firearms issue. Perryman's horrible sin seems to have been having two “assault rifles” in his possession along with a couple of other firearms. I have a number of such weapons in my possession and the only concern the cops might have would be to know how they work, here in Tennessee. The whole incident shows how absolutely insane California laws are. There's no indication that Perryman was charged with anything else.

The NFL world was rocked by the news of Denzel Perryman's arrest,

Quite the hyperbole by MSN.

I doubt if there is much that could rock the NFL world except an interruption of their zillion dollar cash flow.

At least he has the money to pursue a case. He could do us some good getting a few of these laws tossed.

I hear 2/3 players are felons. Odds are in favor.

According to the NY Post he had no prior felony arrest. This case could become very interesting from a Constitutional perspective.

“shall not be infringed”

The first ten amendments (BTW they are NOT a "bill of rights") are directed at the federal gov't not the states.

I'm in possession of firearms. However, I don't live in the nutty state of California.

They can’t define what an “assault rifle” really is.
I wish they’d just call them “black scary things”, which is how they really feel.
What are they called when used to prevent an assault?

Good opp for the NFL to shed its woke staus and defend him, and ask “why can’t he have guns to defend himself”?

I got stopped once in Chattanooga and the LEO saw that I have a carry permit. He asked me if I had my gun in the car and I told him no. He said, “if you have a permit, you need to carry that gun”.

He only stopped me because I wouldn’t pass him on the Interstate when he slowed to a crawl. He asked me why I did that. I told him that I forgot to put my registration sticker on the tag before leaving the house. He just laughed and said he didn’t notice that but when somebody won’t pass him, he figures they are up to something. All he said before letting me go was to pack the gun. LOL He knew I had the permit and that my registration was up to date before he got out of his car.

Agreed. These were most likely perfectly legal weapons when/where he bought them.

There was this song once:

I am a lineman for the chargers…..

And I drive my guns around….

Searching for spring training camp….

Uh oh, what’s that po-po siren sound?….
