Zelensky Signs Law Allowing Ukrainians Over 60 to Join Military in Limited Roles

Ukrainians aged 60 and older can now serve in non-combat roles thanks to new legislation. The elderly Ukrainians will need special approval and get medical clearance before enlisting.

The law was passed by the Ukrainian legislature earlier this month and signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, allowing people over the age of 60 to serve in limited roles until martial law in Ukraine is lifted.

While the current martial law authorization is set to lapse next month, Zelensky has requested that lawmakers extend it for an additional 90 days. Zelensky’s presidential term has already expired, and he has used martial law to remain in office.

Zelensky signed the law increasing the age limit as Ukraine continues to struggle with manpower in the war with Russia. Last year, Ukraine lowered its draft age from 27 to 25, but has resisted calls from the US to drop it to 18.

Ukrainian MP Anna Skorokhod explained earlier this month that her country was facing a severe manpower shortage, saying, “Our main problem is people. Nobody is giving us people.”

The MP said that even if President Donald Trump sent more weapons to Ukraine, the “war cannot last forever.”

A stronger force nation can either breed them out, which takes decades, or kill all the men, which takes about five years at a high price-tag.

American leftists have been working on a hybrid version of breeding the existing population out with child bearing mercenaries from open borders and importing the male replacements that 45 years of aborted indigenous were wiped out.

I'm not sure which is more evil? The Putin conventional war, or the American Leftists war? Both are killing machines trained for decades in psy-ops and covert tactics.

Non-combat support and skilled/technical, medical etc., 1 year enlistment and probation so that they are easy to get rid of if an age issue shows up.

After 9/11 the Army was asking for over 50 year old green berets to come back, I assumed to free up younger green berets for more field combat missions.

Allowing those over 60 to join the military = Desperation caused by a shortage of troops.

This was widely covered in July of 2023.

Putin Raises Elderly Army as Ex-Serviceman Up to 70 Deemed Eligible-—Published Jul 22, 2023
“The age for men with the highest ranks in the reserves can be called up “remains” at 70. For other senior ranks it has risen to up to 65, while for junior officers, it is now up until the age of 60. Meanwhile, general reservists can be brought back into service until the age of 55, 10 years older than previously.

At the other end of the scale, head of the State Duma Committee on Defense, Andrei Kartapolov, said that the lower limit of the military age of 18 for Russian men will remain the same, reversing a proposal by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to increase it to 21.”

Ukraine is in a massive debt crisis. Without Western aid they would have dried up and collapsed years ago, they cannot even pay the government life insurance on all their dead. Much written about this.

Western welfare payments keep their whole system alive, from paying their Rada ( Congress salaries and pensions) to the meter maids.US “ aid” still flows in, but the biggest chump is the EU. The EU is going broke and still raising taxes on their citizens to fund their war.

When this war ends, Ukraine will have neither the money nor the manpower to rebuild. Even Blackrock is rethinking about issuing out Reconstruction Bonds.

Who in their right mind would buy Ukie bonds when their country was downgraded to a “ D” rating?….and falling to D minus, minus….

I think, Ukraine still has there 18 - 25 demographic they can burn through.

Of course that’ll be a disaster long term for a nation with a declining population because of their birth rate.

But if you’re going to commit national suicide, you might as well do it right!

This will be his explanation when people start reporting senior citizens getting killed in the grinder.

Cokehead can say they all joined to fight instead of saying he had them dragged out of their rocking chairs. LOL

That’s pathetic. Zelensky has been conscripting the old, disabled or otherwise unfit and giving them an hour or two of training before sending them to the front lines.

Russia has no shortage of volunteers for its military or shortage of troops.

Just the opposite -- Russia in only using a fraction of its troops in Ukraine, holding the rest back in the event of a direct war with NATO.

Ukraine is the side critically low on troops.

Keep living in a fantasy world all you. It won't change reality.

‘Allowing’?

More like conscripting. You wouldn’t do this unless there was scarcity of people UNDER 60.

When everyone is dead or has moved to another country, what are you defending?
