The Trump administration is launching an audit of California’s high-speed rail project, which is a decade late and is expected to run $100 billion over budget without connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles, as originally intended. As Breitbart News has reported, President Donald Trump warned that the federal government could claw back over $4 billion in spending on the project, just as he blocked $1 billion for the ailing project during his first administration. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy drew protesters in an appearance in Los Angeles to announce the audit: U.S. Secretary of...

Pop singer Madonna wrote a little poem in response to the White House recently calling President Trump “king” after he halted NYC congestion tolls. As Breitbart News reported this week, the Trump administration “moved Wednesday to halt congestion pricing tolls in Democrat-run New York City, a move designed to spare small business owners, commuters and workers the burden of paying to access Manhattan.” In response, the official White House X account posted a digital painting of a grinning President Trump adorned with a crown beside the caption “Long Live the King.” “‘CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New...

As President Donald Trump directs cuts of tens of thousands of federal government employees, among those laid off at America's health agencies are workers at a National Institutes of Health department focused on dementia research, including its incoming leader, three people familiar with the terminations told ABC News. The firings at the Center for Alzheimer's and Related Dementias (CARD) affected roughly a tenth of the nearly 100 employees at the center, but in interviews with ABC News, workers there described a carefully woven web of collaboration that they say could be threatened by the layoffs of just a handful of...

Can you remember the last customer service experience that left you fuming? Not too hard, right? We all want to be treated with a level of respect, and with so many people veering on the edge of a boiling rage these days sometimes all it takes is one nasty exchange with a company's representative to send you teetering over the edge. It happened to me recently when I made a call about an item I'd returned to a company for an exchange that had seemed to vanish. The agent on the phone interrupted me repeatedly and was actively unhelpful. Even...

Pope Francis's condition continues to be "critical" after suffering a "prolonged asthma-like respiratory crisis" earlier on Saturday, the Vatican has said. The pontiff is "more unwell than yesterday" and had received blood transfusions, the statement said. The Vatican said the 88-year-old was alert and in his armchair, but required a "high flow" of oxygen and his prognosis "remains guarded". The Pope is being treated for pneumonia in both lungs at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome. The blood transfusions were deemed necessary due to a low platelet count, associated with anaemia, the Vatican said.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency teamed up with the Department of Government Efficiency to put the kibosh on more than $67 million in grant money once earmarked to push ex-President Joe Biden’s “environmental justice” mandate, The Post has learned. The EPA and the Elon Musk-led DOGE this week flagged 21 grants totaling $77.1 million previously awarded to 20 lefty nonprofits and universities, and the Trump administration will withhold $67.4 million in payments yet to be made, officials said. The biggest loser is Vermont-based Institute of Sustainable Communities, which has yet to receive $12.4 million of the $16 million it was...

The recently confirmed head of the Small Business Administration (SBA), Kelly Loeffler, released a video tour of her agency on Friday, showcasing empty offices in a call for government workers to return to in-person work. "It's my second day here at the SBA," Loeffler said. "I could not be more excited to be here. So I thought I'd take a walk. And what I found is that exactly what's been said is true. About 90 percent of our employees are working from home. Well, that ends Monday with President Trump's order to return to work." The video has picked up...

Nervous travelers have been worrying about taking to the air given the recent airplane crashes in the news. Even so, one man with aerophobia, or a fear of flying, believes there’s nothing to be afraid of — and he’s on a mission to help others address their concerns. Brian Morris of Salt Lake City, Utah, created “Flight Deck: Fear Of Flying Flash Cards” to help anxious flyers calm themselves about takeoff procedures and the travel experience. “In light of the recent flight incidents and accidents, I know firsthand how these events can evoke fear and uncertainty in many individuals,” Morris...

Today we celebrate the anniversary of the birth of George Washington. Of all the great men of the revolutionary era to whom we owe our freedom, Washington’s greatness was the rarest and the most needed. At this remove in time, it is also the hardest to comprehend.Take, for example, Washington’s contribution to the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Washington’s mere presence lent the undertaking and its handiwork the legitimacy that resulted in success. The convention’s first order of business was the election of a presiding officer. Washington was the delegates’ unanimous choice.Presiding over the convention during that fateful summer, Washington said...

In describing how Wagner conceived the whole of his ambitious artistic project, Thomas Mann writes: "There is no chronology of his operas: they are born at a certain date, but they are ready before the date all of a sudden". Each of his works is elaborated on a personal, musical and literary, artistic and theoretical, even political context. Lohengrin was conceived at the same time as Tannhäuser (1845), which was conceived at the same time as Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (1868). Always caught up in the preparations of Tannhäuser, Wagner completed the libretto of Lohengrin. The literary style is deliberately...

Arizona is one of those states where counting the ballots can take weeks after election day has passed. In an effort to expedite the counting of ballots Republicans in the legislature passed a bill modeled on the system used in Florida where all the ballots are counted on election day. Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) vetoed this legislation. "The main hold up in counting ballots is the requirement for signature verification," Hobbs asserted. "One obvious solution is to do away with signature verification. Another solution would be to do away with voter registration. Since voting is a human right why not...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — During a morning press conference about the state of the war in Ukraine, President Donald Trump suddenly claimed that 2 and 2 added together equaled 4, despite having no evidence whatsoever to back it up. Experts sounded the alarm on the president's bold statement. "You can't just go around claiming to have the answer to complex math equations without demonstrating how you came to that conclusion," said former CNN Chief Media Analyst Brian Stelter. "It is very irresponsible for a commander-in-chief to throw numbers around willy-nilly like this." Mathematicians said while there are indeed edge cases in...

Freedom of expression is guaranteed in Article 5 of the Basic Law, the German constitution, which also makes clear that this freedom has limits in order to, for example, to protect young people, privacy or personal honor. The protection of personal honor plays a particularly important role in the German legal system, said lawyer Ralf Poscher, director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg. “This originates from the time in history when notions of honor were even more important. They were then embraced by the middle classes too, and were incorporated into...

As Trump and the DOGE folks are busy pruning deadwood from the federal government there may still be many hires they can’t get rid of due to union regulations. It is easy to tell who the incompetent / DEI ones are. These folks should be immediately reassigned to the protection details for biden, harris, their families, liberal judges, congressmen, etc. Also make sure the competent members in these protection details are reassigned elsewhere.
