The new Tom Hanks flick titled “Here” failed to impress and generated just $5 million at the box office. Adding to the issue is the fact that the Robert Zemeckis-directed film cost $50 million for Miramax to make, according to Deadline. The movie was released by Sony and saw the reunion of the “Forrest Gump” gang by bringing together Hanks, Robin Wright and Eric Roth. The movie centers around a multi-generation family and takes place in just one location. Zemeckis has a number of hits under his belt, including “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?,” “Forrest Gump” and “The Polar Express,” but...

As an investigation into the death of the first person by way of Philip Nitschke’s “Sarco” suicide pod has advanced, disturbing details have come to light — such as how the woman was found to have serious neck injuries resembling strangulation marks. Now, more information is raising even more questions. In September, an American woman was named as the first to have used the suicide pod with help from the Last Resort, a Swiss affiliate of Exit International, which created the Sarco device. Florian Willet, co-president of the Last Resort, was present when the woman died, and has been detained...

The Biden-Harris administration euthanized a 50-year-old elephant in Washington, D.C., on Friday. Its name was Kamala. While zookeepers, members of Kamala's herd, and distant animal lovers mourned the creature's death, some commentators suggested online that Kamala's demise — so soon after the New York Department of Environmental Conservation's slaying of Peanut the squirrel and on the eve of the election — might constitute some sort of omen. The National Zoo, one of the many federally owned Smithsonian Institution facilities in the D.C. area, announced Saturday that after helping manage Kamala's osteoarthritis for 10 years, the creature's keepers elected to "humanely"...

Last year, an all-trimester abortion facility attempted to open in Beverly Hills, California. Despite California’s reputation as a haven for abortion, the residents of Beverly Hills pushed back so much, the landlord ultimately revoked the facility’s lease. The facility, the DuPont Clinic based out of Washington, D.C., promptly sued., claiming that four city officials — including Mayor Julian Gold — withheld permits from the abortion facility, pressured the landlord to cancel the lease, and held “secret meetings” with pro-life advocates where they “promised them it would stop DuPont from opening.” California Attorney General Rob Bonta got involved, opening an investigation...

V NEWSFEED // Reduxx on Monday released an article citing a new medical report that states controversial boxer Imane Khelif, the athlete who won gold in the women’s welterweight boxing category during the 2024 Paris Olympics, was born male. Donald Trump Jr., son of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, took the opportunity to speak out against men taking part in women’s sports. “No more men in women’s sports!!!” wrote the younger Trump. “I called this when it happened. I was censored, shadow-banned and as usual I was right just like so many of you were.” According to Reduxx, French journalist...

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — When Nate Bowers went to vote at Banana Factory Arts Center midday Tuesday, he struggled to find the end of the voting line, which wrapped around the Bethlehem polling location. “I was surprised,” said Bowers, 19, a computer science student at Lehigh University. “Every time I turned a corner there was just another entire block of [the] line. But I have to fulfill my civic duty. I have to vote no matter how long it takes.” In a scene that was playing out Tuesday across the Lehigh Valley — and perhaps the nation — voters waited hours...

CV NEWS FEED // In the days leading up to Election Day, YouTube limited CatholicVote’s new ad campaign showing Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris posing with a well-known member of the drag troupe the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), an anti-Catholic hate group. Google, YouTube’s parent company, claimed the ad buy violated its “Improper Content” policy, which restricts the scope of content deemed “suggestive or inappropriate.” The ad debuted a week ago. As CatholicVote previously noted, its 30-second ad shows “a montage of multiple clips of SPI members dressed in lewd costumes mocking nuns and performing sexually suggestive dances on...

‘Remember, Remember the 5th of November’ is a rhyme that commemorates the night that Guy Fawkes and his comrades tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament With the clocks having gone back an hour, winter’s dark nights have returned to the UK. But a ray of brightness is seen on - and around - Bonfire Night, which is tonight. The 5 November celebration is always accompanied by a cacophony of fireworks, the waving of sparklers and the crunch of toffee apples. But it has its origins in a dark period of British history, where religious persecution and political upheaval...

With one day to go until Election Day, the reelection prospects of Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón remain dim. According to a UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll that was co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times, Gascón remains 25 points behind his challenger, former federal prosecutor Nathan Hochman. Despite campaign events and high-profile announcements like his support of resentencing for the Menendez brothers, Gascón has made up little ground on his 30-point deficit from last month. Mark DiCamillo, director of the poll, previously told the Times that the race was “not even close,” and with only days...

I don't have to tell you not to get cocky and to make sure every Trump-loving friend, family member, neighbor, and random acquaintance of yours gets out there and votes. But despite the narrative being pushed that this is a close election, there may be a chance that public pollsters who have been insistent that this race is going to be a nail-biter have been missing something big. On Monday, veteran GOP strategist Alex Castellanos suggested that pollsters might be missing a key indicator in their analyses. Pollsters have been getting it “wrong” in the final days of the 2024...

Here’s a quick note to send out to you that are about to cast your vote today. BRING YOUR OWN PEN. Why? In 2020 they were handing out markers to voters. This bleeds through the ballots and messes with the machines ability to read the ballots properly as there will be numerous dots all over it. Well, reports are coming in from all over the country that they’re doing that again. Some say that it’s not a problem because the ballot will then go to adjudication. But who can trust that? Also, make sure your ballot doesn’t have a DOT...
