Scientists have discovered that the circadian clock regulates axonal regeneration and repair. The authors found that DRG sensory neurons have an endogenous molecular clock that optimizes axonal regeneration in a mouse model of sciatic nerve injury. The researchers also demonstrated that axonal regeneration can be promoted using chrono-active drugs, such as lithium, which is currently used in clinics for treating neurological disorders. These findings pave the way for the use of clock-associated therapies and timed neurorehabilitation for people with Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) injuries. Dr. Francesco De Virgiliis said, "Our study shows that the circadian clock regulates axonal regeneration, and...

The latest ranking of America’s best universities is here, perfectly timed for the approaching admissions season.“Best” is of course subjective, and U.S. News and World Report has compiled 19 metrics on which they evaluated more than 400 national universities. Some of them include:Graduation rates & performance: A four-year rolling average of the proportion of each entering class earning a bachelor’s degree in six years or less. Performance is measured against predictions made by the publishers, and when beaten, the university gains a higher scoring.Peer assessment: A two-year weighted average of ratings from top academics—presidents, provosts and deans of admissions—on academic...

The Obama administration, just 17 days before the inauguration of President Donald Trump, revised the guidelines of Section 2.3 of Executive Order 12333, "Procedures for the Availability or Dissemination of Raw Signals Intelligence Information by the National Security Agency."Although widely overlooked, the implications were broad and far-reaching.Under the new procedure, agencies and individuals could request the National Security Agency (NSA) for access to specific surveillance simply by claiming the intercepts contain relevant information that's useful to a particular mission. No privacy protection of the raw data was undertaken. Under the new rules, sharing of information was significantly easier–and the information being...

The century intervening from the fall of Napoleon in 1815 to the beginning of the First World War in 1914 is usually regarded as a sort of golden age for Prusso-German militarism. In this period, the Prussian military establishment won a series of spectacular victories over Austria and France, establishing an aura of German military supremacy and realizing the dream of a unified Germany through force of arms. Prussia in this era also produced three of history’s iconic military personalities - Carl von Clausewitz (a theoretician), Helmuth von Moltke (a practitioner), and Hans Delburk (a historian). As the story usually...

When an investment looks like a bad risk, you take your money out of it. When your whole country’s economy looks like a bad risk you do the same thing. And that’s what wealthy Chinese citizens have been doing, stealthily moving their money abroad even though there is a potential risk of going to jail for violating laws against such moves.Since international borders reopened post-pandemic, advisers to the rich report a surge in demand for overseas backup options. Crackdowns on ideologically out-of-favor industries, uncertainty over geopolitical tensions and Xi Jinping’s push for “common prosperity” have spooked the rich and even...

The talking heads at the alphabet networks now have yet another inconvenient bit of data to either ignore or try to explain away as “not a smoking gun” in the ongoing saga of Biden Inc. I previously wrote about a shady $40,000 check that the President received from his brother Jim and his wife for our VIP subscribers and nothing about that transaction looked remotely normal. It turns out that I wasn’t the only one who had questions. A money-laundering investigator who worked for one of the banks handling the series of massive cash transfers leading to that “loan repayment”...

Sky News is doing the work that our own MSM refuses to do. Ever since it emerged, the origins of COVID should have been one of the top two or three stories in the world. After all, the disease itself was ravaging the world, the responses to the virus were doing even more damage, and the people in charge of responding to the virus were, at the very least, suspects in the case. Yet even discussion of the possibility of a lab leak was suppressed, and anybody who brought up the possibility was labeled a conspiracy theorist. Social media sites...

In a blow to the "ceasefire now" crowd, including clownishly antisemitic politicians like Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Hamas leadership has let it be known that they don't want a ceasefire. The first indication of that came on Thursday when Hamas carried out a terrorist attack in Jerusalem, leaving three dead and dozens injured. If that wasn't clear enough, though, Hamas' leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar let it be known on the same day that the October 7th attacks were just a rehearsal. #BREAKING: Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar in his first publicized statements since launching Al Aqsa Floods campaign:"The leaders of...

As I write this, the debate between Gavin Newsom and Ron DeSantis is entering the final stretch, but short of a miracle turnaround, a winner has already emerged. DeSantis has hammered Newsom with facts throughout the night, and to Sean Hannity's credit, he's put up graphics with each question that have helped expose the California governor's continued lies. Once things end, there will be a lot to cover (and a heck of a lot to fact-check on Newsom's part), but one moment was just too good to not go ahead and share. In it, DeSantis began to recollect a conversation...

(EDITOR'S NOTE: This piece was originally published on October 9, 2022, but is being republished after California Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed that the state's high gas prices are caused by "gouging" from oil companies during a debate with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Newsom signed even more regulations into law in 2022 and 2023. One law requires oil companies to inform customers about "how much money they're making off Californians on their websites; oil companies are now hitting back by posting QR codes at the pump where customers can learn how much they're paying in taxes and fees.)While gas prices in...

Trump was privately pressing Pence to reject certain votes at the Jan. 6 proceedings and block certification of the election -- and Trump even suggested to Pence that perhaps he should skip the session altogether, Pence allegedly told Smith's team. But, according to sources, Pence told investigators that he "clearly and repeatedly" emphasized to Trump that rejecting certain votes would violate the Constitution. "I told him I thought there was no idea more un-American than the idea that any one person could decide what electoral votes to count," Pence allegedly told Smith's team, echoing what he has said before in...

TOKYO (Reuters) -- Japan is concerned that the U.S. military is continuing to fly Osprey aircraft despite its request to ground them until their safety is confirmed after an accident this week, Japan's top government spokesperson said on Friday. Japan, a key U.S. ally, had sought the suspension of all nonemergency V-22 Osprey flights over its territory after one fell into the sea on Wednesday in western Japan. The Japan Coast Guard has said one person was found and confirmed dead, and the search for the remaining seven aboard continues. The Pentagon said on Thursday that it was still flying...

Sar-El has worked with more than a quarter of a million civilian volunteers in its 40 years, from both outside and from within Israel, Jewish and non-Jewish, young and old. In the past horrendous week, Sar-El CEO Keren Dahan has seen an uptick in civilian requests to volunteer for the IDF, the likes of which are unprecedented. Sar-El is an organization that offers logistical support to the IDF by a cadre of volunteers from around the world. “The war changed everything. We have a huge number of requests coming in,” Dahan told the Magazine. “If the logistics aren’t ready, then...

On this date in 1938, 14 political prisoners of the Romanian Legionary movement were extrajudicially executed — including Corneliu Codreanu, one of the Romanian right’s leading spirits. The son of a Bukovina schoolteacher in what was then Austria-Hungary, Codreanu came to political maturity in the interwar heyday of Greater Romania. It was a moment of national aspiration — the Romanian state had never before grown so large — but it was abutted by the great threats of Germany and Russia, and haunted by nationalism, economic crisis, shaken political authority, and all the other spooks conjured by the first World War....

An Arizona judge on Wednesday denied 2022 Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake's request to review ballot envelope signatures, concluding it "would have a corrosive effect on public confidence in the electoral process." In September, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge John Hannah presided over a two-day trial to decide whether Lake's legal team could have access to review the ballot envelope signatures for the 2022 general election in the county. Lake lost the race to Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs by less than 1 percent of the vote. Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer denied the GOP candidate's request in April, prompting her...

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - One Kia owner got so fed up after his car was stolen he decided to dump the vehicle off at the dealership where he bought it and walk four hours back home. On Monday, Behrouz Alimoradi said someone stole his Kia. The incident happened in Federal Way. Alimoradi said police found the car. But as it sat parked in the driveway, he says someone came back and smashed out all the windows. "I’m tired, you know. I swear I’m tired about this car," he said. Alimoradi says in two years, he has dealt with four different...

Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger, two honest men who worked on the Twitter Files, exposing how the government collaborated with Twitter to affect the 2020 election, testified before the House today. What they said should terrify you. Beginning in January 2017, under then-president Obama’s direction, the government instituted a social media manipulation system intended to game the 2020 election through censorship and controlled information (which, to my mind, amounts to misinformation). It was unconstitutional, but it worked. And now, using the vehicle of the corrupt criminal action against Trump, the government is bypassing manipulating information and is planning to target...
