Montreal police have launched an investigation after what appear to be firebombs were thrown against the front door of a synagogue in Dollard-des-Ormeaux as well as the rear entrance of a nearby Jewish community centre. A police spokesperson said the event happened overnight. A perimeter was set up Tuesday morning in front of the Beth Tivkah synagogue on Westpark Blvd. A second incendiary device had been placed at the rear entrance of a Jewish community centre a block away from the synagogue, police said. There were no injuries reported in the incident and damage to both buildings was minor. Police...

Israel will likely have to occupy Gaza post-war, due to fears Hamas would reestablish a stronghold in the region, according to former CIA director and military expert David Petraeus. “This is about ensuring that Hamas cannot reconstitute itself,” Petraeus said. Aaron David Miller, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, sat down with Petraeus for an event the think tank hosted Tuesday, where the two discussed the United States’ role in international conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Hamas war. While Petraeus echoed the Biden administration’s concerns that Israeli occupation of Gaza would be unfavorable, he...

Supreme Court justices on Tuesday appeared to side with the Biden administration's appeal of a lower court ruling that struck a federal statute barring people under a domestic violence restraining order from possessing a gun, teeing up a possible narrow ruling over the law in question. United States v. Rahimi is the high court’s first major Second Amendment case since Justice Clarence Thomas and the Republican-appointed majority ruled 6-3 that firearms regulations must be consistent with the nation's "historical tradition." That case, New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, featured a successful challenge to the Empire State's handgun...

Kentucky must hold Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear accountable for his response to the coronavirus pandemic, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) said as Republican Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron hopes to unseat the Democrat incumbent in Tuesday’s highly anticipated election. “KY must hold Andy Beshear accountable for his pandemic response. He forced your kids to wear masks in school. He labeled your business ‘non-essential.’ And he took away your Freedom of religion by locking down your churches,” Noem said on election eve.

The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) inspector general has been called on to investigate a top official in Democrat President Biden’s administration who has been leading the push to force Americans into switching to electric vehicles (EVs). A complaint was filed by watchdog Protect the Public’s Trust against Ann Carlson, acting administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In a Monday letter to DOT Inspector General Eric Soskin, the watchdog alleges that Biden violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act (FVRA) when he appointed Carlson. The FVRA stipulates that the president cannot appoint an acting officer to a position if...

SMOKING will be banished in Britain for youngsters, King Charles confirmed today. At the state opening of Parliament, the monarch confirmed Rishi Sunak will mount an historic crackdown on cigarettes by raising the legal age every year until there are no smokers left. The PM has previously said: "We must tackle the single biggest entirely preventable cause of ill health disability and death. "And that is smoking, and our country. Smoking causes, one in four cancer deaths." The new plans mean a 14-year-old today will never legally be sold a cigarette. The tough new anti-smoking measures would see the smoking...

Watching the horrors unfold in Israel would be hard for anyone, but it has to be especially difficult for leaders like Mike Pompeo, who, as a member of the Trump administration, worked to ensure nightmares like this never happened. Three years removed from the White House, the world is a different place than it was when the 45th president was in power — and Americans aren’t the only ones who feel it.

Like presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy and Hung Cao, running against Tim Kaine for the Senate in Virginia, Qiu marks the rise of a new kind of Republican—one who speaks the language of MAGA (railing against our “endless migrant crisis” and “open border”) but is younger, less angry, more ecumenical, and from a minority group that has historically voted with the Democratic Party. “We’re expanding the boundaries of the MAGA agenda,” Kenny Xu, who is running in the Republican primary in North Carolina’s Thirteenth Congressional District, said in a phone interview. Xu, the 26-year-old author of School of Woke: How Critical...

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s (R) campaign showcased an ad ahead of the third Republican primary debate claiming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) “lied” about his position on fracking. The ad highlighted a key exchange between Haley and DeSantis from the second GOP primary debate.“What you don’t need is a president who is against energy independence. Ron DeSantis is against fracking. He’s against drilling. He’s been against… You did it,” Haley said at the time.“He always talks about what happens on day one. You better watch out because what happens on day two is when you’re in trouble; day two...

Four children born with a rare form of deafness are now able to hear, thanks to a new gene therapy being trialed in China. In addition to helping others with the same condition, this treatment could one day lead to gene therapies for other, more common causes of deafness. The challenge: Every year, about 6,000 babies are born in the US alone with some level of permanent hearing loss. The problem, in rare instances, lies in mutations in the gene that codes for the otoferlin (OTOF) protein, which helps hair cells in the inner ear transmit sounds to the brain...

I thought this is a guy if he wins it’s all about revenge. Nixon had an enemies list. A lot of people thought it was an honor to be on it. He was out to get these people who are political enemies. The White House dismissed a request by House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) seeking proof of President Joe Biden providing a loan to his brother James Biden amid concerns that the commander-in-chief may have profited off his family’s influence-peddling schemes. Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, wrote back to Comer on Friday in response to a letter from October 26 that sought documentation underlying a $200,000 check James Biden wrote to Joe Biden that was labeled as a “loan repayment” in 2018. Recent polling that highlighted President Joe Biden’s weakened chances of winning reelection in 2024 set the Democrat Party ablaze with infighting about how to revamp the president’s frail image, campaign strategy, and growing anxiousness among Democrats that former President Donald Trump could oust the 80-year-old from office. The Democrats’ disarray, which appears to border on panic, is a positive sign for Republicans’ chances of retaining the House and retaking the Senate and the White House. Republicans are cautiously optimistic they can carry the current momentum into election day still a full year away — is an eternity in politics. The...

A Democrat poll released on the eve of Election Day shows what could be a very tight gubernatorial race in Kentucky as voters head to the polls on Tuesday. The Data For Progress survey, released Monday, November 6, showed an extremely close race between Democrat incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear and Donald Trump-backed Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron. When asked who they would support between the two, 50 percent of likely Kentucky voters chose Beshear, while 48 percent chose Cameron. Just two points separate the candidates, which is well within the survey’s ± four percent margin of error. 📊 2023 Kentucky...
