"You can't have a recession if everyone has a job and everyone is spending money," I told the audience in Las Vegas. We hosted our annual Stansberry Conference last month. And I had the honor of sharing my most up-to-date thoughts on the markets and the economy. Everyone is still on edge, waiting for a recession to take hold in the U.S. Many of our analysts at Stansberry Research are exploring the possibility, too. It's good to be prepared. But you shouldn't lose sleep over this fear. The reason why is as simple as what I said in Vegas... Consumer...

After months of negotiations and a weekslong strike, the UAW has reached tentative deals with Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Stellantis that both sides classify as historic. The agreements, though slightly different at each automaker, contain significant wage increases, a restructured wage progression, better conditions for temporary employees and more. Ford autoworkers have begun voting on the tentative deal, with at least one local voting in favor of it as of Thursday. UAW members at Stellantis and GM are expected to begin voting on the deals soon as they move through the ratification process.

It’s business as usual for Senator Robert Menendez, who boasted to a talk-show host that he is still attending top secret briefings — despite being charged with working as a foreign agent for Egypt. The embattled New Jersey Democrat who was indicted on federal corruption charges in September told New Jersey PBS’s Chatbox with David Cruz show “I still have all my intelligence credentials” and that he still attends regular briefings of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee. “I was not barred from going into an intelligence briefing,” he said when Cruz asked if he had been sidelined after his...

Federal immigration authorities arrested an illegal immigrant wanted in Senegal for alleged terrorist activities, two weeks after he was released into the country after being encountered by agents at the southern border. In a press release, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says a 29-year-old "unlawfully present Mauritanian or Senegalese citizen" was arrested on Oct. 17. ICE says he is wanted by Senegalese authorities for criminal conspiracy in relation to a terrorist organization; destruction, degradation and damages in relation to a terrorist organization; direct provocation of an armed crowd and acts (or preparatory acts) aimed at compromising public safety. But he...

The Daily Beast attacked Speaker Mike Johnson in a story Wednesday over the Louisiana Republican's boringly normal financial situation. According to the news outlet, Johnson manages a "extraordinarily precarious" financial situation. That's because his financial disclosure forms show that he and his wife do not own bank accounts stashed with cash; they hold no investments in the stock market, have no retirement accounts, and have taken on considerable debt in the form of a mortgage, a home equity loan, and a personal loan. The Daily Beast used Johnson's situation to make three attacks: That Johnson is bad with money and...

Republicans on the Committee on House Administration are probing a prominent left-wing fundraising platform over its “lenient” donor verification practices that allegedly allow unlawful monies to fund Democrat political causes. Authored by Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Wis., the letter sent to ActBlue Chief Executive Officer Regina Wallace-Jones requests information regarding the platform’s “lenient donor verification standards,” which Steil says have allegedly permitted “malicious actors” to “funnel unlawful funds to political committees” in key elections throughout the country. As noted by Fox News, ActBlue “amasses small-dollar donations … and then funnels them to various Democrat candidates and causes.” Months before the 2020...

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) gave his highly coveted endorsement to Lateefah Simon, who’s running for California's 12th Congressional District in 2024. Newsom and Simon have collaborated closely in the past, representing District 7 on Bay Area Rapid Transit's board of directors since 2016, where Newsom’s political roots lie. “Lateefah is a visionary," Newsom said in a statement to Politico. "But more than a visionary, she is a proven leader who effects the kind of change that makes her vision a reality.” “From working closely with Lateefah and watching her deliver real, progressive change in her community, I have come to...

NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY Whether you stack it high or thin, National Sandwich Day on November 3rd recognizes one of America's favorite lunch items. #NationalSandwichDay The sandwich is believed to be the namesake of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, following the claim that he was the inventor of the sandwich. No matter who invented it, we celebrate every kind of sandwich. While the modern sandwich is believed to be named after John Montagu, the exact circumstances of its invention and original use are the subject of debate. There is a rumor in a contemporary travel book titled Tour to London,...

The Hamptons 'middle class,' comprised of New Yorkers with somewhat modest million-dollar second homes out East, have been dropping their asking prices by more than 25 percent in a bid to sell their homes. Because of growing interest rates and the post-pandemic need to be in the city more often, many middling Hamptons staycationers, who own properties up to $5million, are attempting to sell their homes at reduced prices. In some cases, owners have cut their asking prices by hundreds of thousands of dollars in Sag Harbor and Amagansett. One agent told the NYPost that prices for homes on the...

While “Christian revival” was successful due to the expulsion of religion from governance, in Islam it is exactly the opposite -- Islam was successful in its first 1,200 years precisely due to the dominance of religion in government and society. Islam experienced decline only with the advent into the Islamic world of Western political systems, European nationalism, and secularism in the last 300 years.

A judge has overturned the results of the Democrat primary for the mayoral race in Bridgeport, Connecticut, after viewing compelling evidence of voter fraud. His ruling creates chaos for the general election that is scheduled to take place in just a few days. On September 12, incumbent Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim narrowly edged out challenger John Gomes by a mere 251-vote margin in the Democrat primary. Primary election day ballots favored Gomes, but after absentee ballots were tallied later that evening, Ganim prevailed over Gomes, 4,212 to 3,961. Within days, the Gomes camp cried foul, posting a video to Facebook...

An explicit recruitment advert targeting women for the Ukrainian Army is Russian propaganda and not an official video, Kyiv have said in a statement. A short video linking to the recruitment website for the Armed Forces of Ukraine showing by turns a woman in lingerie, a woman caring for a small child, and a woman preparing for battle has been flagged by an official statement from the Ukrainian government as a fake. Kyiv’s government news outlet Ukrinform picks apart the video, noting it is stitched together from generic stock clips found elsewhere on the internet, and that the video has...

Pieter Bruegel the Elder was a sixteenth-century star in the Dutch and Flemish Renaissance. He’s most often associated with paintings of peasants and other common people doing everyday things: hunting in the snow, ice-skating, dancing at a wedding, eating, sleeping, and playing children’s games. In one painting, a peasant is doing what peasants have been doing for over ten thousand years. He is plowing. The earth rises up in furrows. The horse trudges forward. The plowman keeps his gaze directed at the ground beneath his feet. On a terrace beneath the plowman, a blank-faced shepherd, surrounded by sheep, leans on...

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation following a concerning incident at the Oconee Nuclear Station in South Carolina on Thursday night. At approximately 8:05 p.m. on Thursday, deputies from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately to an emergency call from the Oconee Nuclear Station. An unknown individual had reportedly driven a car through the exit side of the facility’s gate, facing Highway 183, FOX Carolina reported. According to on-site accounts, following the unauthorized entry, the facility’s security systems activated pop-up barricades designed to immobilize intruding vehicles.
