HAMTRAMCK, Mich. — ...last year, a Muslim who emigrated from Yemen as a teenager became mayor — the city’s first leader in nearly a century with no Polish roots — alongside what is believed to be the nation’s only all-Muslim city council. Many residents in this tiny enclave just north of downtown Detroit saw these changes as a sign of the Hamtramck’s progressiveness. The Muslim community that had previously experienced discrimination, including voter intimidation and resistance to mosques’ public call to prayer, had finally taken its seats at the table. Yet the ethnic, cultural and religious diversity that made Hamtramck...

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Saturday that the United States and other allies of Ukraine are "directly at war" with Moscow. Lavrov had been asked by a journalist at what point the US becomes directly involved in war against Russia, as opposed to engaged in a proxy conflict. “You can call this whatever you want to call this, but they are directly at war with us. We can call this a hybrid war, but that doesn’t change the reality,” Lavrov said. “They are effectively engaged in hostilities with us, using the Ukrainians as fodder,” he added.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the spokesman for the Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas, slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, promising that there will be no peace or stability until the "Palestinian nation's" demands are met. In his speech, Netanyahu said, "Many decades of efforts to make peace with Arab Nations have failed because they were based on one false assumption - that the Palestinians must be appeased as a precondition to peace. The Palestinians have much to gain from new peace agreements. They should be part of these agreements, but they should not...

On Thursday, 9/21, local farmer militiamen in South Africa stopped a gang of 15 armed robbers armed with AK-47s who had just robbed an armored car, killing the driver. The local volunteers apprehended the fugitives after a high-speed chase, including a dangerous Mozambican criminal wanted for murder of a police officer. The robbery took place in Hoedspruit (Hat Springs) outside Polokwane in Limpopo Province, which were named Pietersburg and North Transvaal by the original settlers before the campaign to ethnically cleanse the Afrikaner language and culture from South Africa. Heavily armed attacks on armored cars are so common in South...

Sen. John Fetterman may be allowed to dress like a slob in the halls of power — but it’s still a capital offense in New York City’s finest restaurants. Intrepid Post reporter Jon Levine learned that hard truth this week when he crisscrossed the Big Apple’s culinary landmarks wearing Fetterman’s trademark hoodie, gym shorts and sneakers and tried to gain entry... “He would not be permitted here,” sniffed a maître d at Daniel on the Upper East Side, where a seven-course tasting menu runs $275... “We have turned away guests for being improperly dressed regardless of their occupation,” she continued....

Yes! And I [the author] say this as someone who served in an army that boasts about its female soldiers. So I hope that even if you disagree with me, you'll bear with me and read till the end… FACT TIME * The Israeli defense forces stopped using actual female combat soldiers after 1948. This was when they noticed that coed combat units suffered close to 50% higher casualty rates than all male units, and were worlds less effective when it came to mission completion. * Due to this fact, women were barred from all combat roles in the IDF...

The K5 is massive robot with no arms, no legs and four surveillance cameras. The New York Police Department (NYPD) is implementing a new security measure at the Times Square subway station. It's deploying a security robot to patrol the premises, which authorities say is meant to "keep you safe." We're not talking about a RoboCop-like machine or any human-like biped robot — the K5, which was made by California-based company Knightscope, looks like a massive version of R2-D2. Albert Fox Cahn, the executive director of privacy rights group Surveillance Technology Oversight Project, has a less flattering description for it,...

Marina Abramović,...Serbian performance artist who is popular among celebrities, recently unveiled an exhibition at the Royal Academy... A notable feature of the exhibition is an installation where visitors can choose to enter by squeezing between two nude models, recreating Abramović's and her then-partner Ulay's 1977 piece. The installation is meant to be symbolic of a confrontation with nakedness, gender, sexuality, and desire. There’s an alternative entry for visitors uncomfortable with the initial proposition. Some reviews, like those from The Times and The Telegraph, emphasized a perceived decline in the provocative and visceral quality of Abramović's later works, citing them as...

A full federal appeals court declined to take up Democrat groups’ challenge of Florida’s 2021 election integrity law on Thursday, marking a major win for Gov. Ron DeSantis and the GOP-controlled state legislature. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Thursday’s decision by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals “let stand an April ruling by a three-judge panel of the [court] that sided with the state on major issues in the case.” The 11th Circuit’s April decision effectively overturned a prior ruling issued by U.S. District Judge Mark Walker — an Obama appointee — who baselessly claimed the law in question discriminated...

People have been using music as a means to express dissatisfaction for as long as we know, but why is it so powerful?“I thought that if you had an acoustic guitar, it meant that you were a protest singer,” sang Morrissey on The Smiths’ song “Shakespeare’s Sister.” Back in 1985, that might not have been an unusual point of view. The idea of protest singers as finger-picking folkies had been long cemented in popular culture, going back to the 60s, when Bob Dylan brought songs such as “The Times They Are A-Changin’’ to the masses, spawning countless copyists voicing virtues...

Here’s a history lesson you’re unlikely to find in textbooks: California’s bear flag has links to white supremacy and pro-slavery. Here’s another: California entered the union as a “free” state, yet enslavement was widely condoned. As many as 1,500 enslaved African Americans lived in California in 1852. That completely contradicts what most of us learned in school.

China-owned TikTok is reportedly testing a new feature that integrates Google Search within its app, a development that experts believe could significantly boost traffic and ad revenue for both the fanatically leftist American tech giant and its Chinese communist counterpart. Business Insider reports that TikTok, the Chinese social media giant, is in the testing phases of a pioneering partnership with Google, aiming to enhance its search features. This integration was discovered by app researcher Radu Oncescu, who noted that some searches conducted within the TikTok app now present an option to extend the search on Google. This feature directs users...

Explanation: An analemma is that figure-8 curve you get when you mark the position of the Sun at the same time each day for one year. To make this one, a 4x5 pinhole camera was set up looking north in southern New Zealand skies. The shutter was briefly opened each clear day in the afternoon at 4pm local time exposing the same photosensitized glass plate for the year spanning September 23, 2022 to September 19, 2023. On two days, the winter and summer solstices, the shutter was opened again 15 minutes after the main exposure and remained open until sunset...

Disney fired hundreds of employees in China earlier this year, days before CEO Bob Iger was scheduled to meet with Rep. Mike Gallagher (R., Wis.), chairman of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party. The company laid off more than 300 employees in Beijing in March, one week ahead of the meeting, the Wall Street Journal reported. Heads of Disney anticipated questions on data security given the company's use of Chinese staffers who had access to some U.S. consumer data, according to the Journal. [snip] The report comes the same week Gallagher warned that spy operations by the Chinese...
