Florida’s public university system on Friday voted to approve the Classic Learning Test (CLT), a college entrance exam, making it the first state to accept an alternative to the SAT. Backed by Christian schools and conservative political groups, the CLT was first introduced in December 2015 and is currently accepted by over 250 American colleges and universities, according to its website. The $59 online test consists of a three-section, two-hour exam that assesses verbal reasoning, grammar and writing as well as quantitative reasoning. Students will also have the ability to view their scores the same day they complete the test....

I’m running as a Democrat! Republican leaders in Illinois are selected to keep incumbent democrats elected. They collect donor, monies and use it against the will of the donor. I have seen an absolute failure in Lake County leadership while candidates get ignored unless it was profitable and consultants ruin our townships. I’ve seen women be disparaged, minority slurs used by leaders that weren’t admonished. As much as I love everyone that helped, supported and believed in me. I can no longer align myself with these individuals. They are corrupt profiteers. I hope you continue to support my mission. More...

Death by a Thousand Cuts: The Many Ways Our Rights Have Been Usurped Since 9/11“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” — Abraham LincolnThose who gave us the Constitution and the Bill of Rights believed that the government exists at the behest of its citizens. It is there to protect, defend and even enhance our freedoms, not violate them.Unfortunately, although the Bill of Rights was adopted as a means of protecting the people against government tyranny, in America today, the...

The NFL is getting exactly what they want. League rule-makers perfectly executed their plans in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign, recording a historically low kickoff return rate of 20.5% — exactly what the NFL was looking for in a rule change aimed at encouraging teams to kick un-returnable balls. In a single week of games, the return rate was the lowest it’s ever been since at least 2000, according to ESPN Stats and Information. This data wasn’t recorded prior to that year; however, the four-letter network also noted the 20.5% tally was the lowest in NFL history based on...

Democrats and much of the media (as always, pardon the redundancy) have settled on the talking point of "no evidence" of Biden corruption as a way to diminish the seriousness of the House Republicans' impeachment inquiry. Recently the New York Times shifted to "no hard evidence," meaning that unless a check surfaces that's made out to Joe Biden with "for bribes" written in the memo section, there's no evidence. However, there is some actual journalisming going on in the media as shown by a new Axios report: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Axios @axios · Follow Just before the 2020 election, Biden and his...

Redistricting for congressional seats typically takes place prior to the first congressional elections held after a census is conducted, but the congressional maps in some states are still in limbo ahead of the second congressional elections based on the current census data. Three states have had recent developments in legal battles over how congressional districts will look for the 2024 election, with one state having its map for the election solidified. Here is a look at the redistricting situations in Florida, Ohio, and Alabama. Florida The congressional map in the Sunshine State is currently in legal limbo after a circuit...

For 20 years, Mike Ball served in the Alabama Legislature as a Republican. On Tuesday afternoon, he applauded as a Democrat announced her candidacy for the seat he once held. “It’s because, quite frankly, I joined the party of Reagan and I left the party of Trump,” said Ball, who described himself Tuesday as an independent. “I mean, it’s a different tone ... everything’s different.” And so it is that he’s supporting Marilyn Lands, a licensed professional counselor who received 45 percent of the vote last November in a race won by Republican David Cole. That victory touched off a...

For Israel’s embattled but newly combative liberals, the fight against authoritarianism and ethnonationalism now takes place not only in the Knesset and the Supreme Court, but on buses, in city squares and in quiet residential streets..... A new controversial flag policy for the Temecula Valley Unified School District was passed with a 3-2 vote during Tuesday night’s meeting. School officials discussed whether certain flags should be limited for display, which some critics believe will be used to censor LGBTQ+ support. Following the policy’s approval, only state and U.S. flags can be displayed at schools. All other flags would require the superintendent’s approval

The Park County Republican Party has removed more than 20 precinct committeemen and women from their elected positions, saying they failed to attend enough party meetings. However, there’s some question as to whether the party’s action is legal. The Park County GOP amended its bylaws last year to say that members are deemed to have vacated their seats if they miss three straight meetings without giving notice to the party’s chairman or secretary or sending another Republican in their place. At its Aug. 3 meeting, the party passed a motion to remove those who had violated the policy; a total...

As the press gradually acknowledged the undeniable threat Hunter Biden posed to his father’s political future, New York Times White House reporter Katie Rogers issued a 2,400-word front-page story Sunday, “The Peril in Biden’s Inability to Say No to Son.” That headline leaned toward sentimentality, but the one in the previous edition really made the President into a martyr: “Biden Puts Son First, In Spite of Political Price.” Rogers previously praised Biden the family man in a July effort at Democratic damage control involving Hunter Biden and his “love child.” That one was also a Sunday front-page story. This time,...

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said the impeachment inquiry into President Biden is just a way for Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to “cling to” the speakership and fend off any immediate challenges from far-right members threatening to remove him. “His only reason for being is to try to cling to that job,” Schiff said of McCarthy, in an interview on MSNBC’s “The Last Word.” “And he’s being whipsawed, in this case, by the Matt Gaetzs, who are threatening to bring him down, and by others, who are threatening to bring him down over the budget.” “So he’s going into this confluence...

Ogles said that from a grassroots perspective, Michelle Obama would be the best choice. Tennessee GOP Rep. Andy Ogles predicted Tuesday that former first lady Michelle Obama will replace President Biden as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee. "I'm not convinced that Joe Biden will be their nominee," Ogles said Tuesday on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I think that because of his health, because of the many bloopers and the fact that he gets lost in the Rose Garden–I think at the last minute you're gonna see some switcheroo. Gavin Newsom has said it's not going to...

Curtailing aid to Ukraine will only prolong the war, Mr Zelensky argues. And it would create risks for the West in its own backyard. There is no way of predicting how the millions of Ukrainian refugees in European countries would react to their country being abandoned. Ukrainians have generally "behaved well" and are "very grateful" to those who sheltered them. They will not forget that generosity. But it would not be a "good story" for Europe if it were to "drive these people into a corner".

Donald Trump skipped the first Republican debate in Wisconsin last month, and the GOP frontrunner has indicated he will not join his party’s second debate in California on Sept. 27. Republican primary voters are split over whether this strategy will help or hurt ... ... The former president reinforced his debate-skipping strategy on his social media site Truth Social writing, "The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had. I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!" It is an approach Trump explained in a June interview with Fox News host Bret Baier in which he...

Some speculation exists that Democrats would ignite a major war with Russia to impose martial law and suspend elections. Mention the Ukraine War to most Americans and their eyes glaze over. A lot of folks can’t locate Ukraine on a map. Yes, that’s partly the fault of our educational system. Historically, though, if it ain’t happening here at home, it ain’t happening -- until the Lusitania sinks or Pearl Harbor is bombed. Vietnam was peripheral until LBJ and the “military-industrial complex” took advantage of the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Only then did Americans grab their Rand McNallys to discover where...

Colombian cocaine output surged to a record last year, with the drug flooding into new markets and fueling violence across the planet. Satellite photos show the amount of land planted with coca, the raw material for making the drug, rose to 230,000 hectares (570,000 acres), in 2022, up 13% from the previous year. That’s enough to produce 1,700 tons of refined cocaine, the most ever, according to a report published Monday by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. The supply glut has led to rising purity in Europe and the US, and a surge in seizures everywhere from Africa,...
