Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has urged House Republicans to avoid impeaching President Joe Biden. Speaking to the New York Times in an interview published Tuesday, McConnell said that he does not want to continue the impeachment cycle that Democrats started two years ago when they impeached former President Trump on dubious charges. “I said two years ago, when we had not one but two impeachments, that once we go down this path it incentivizes the other side to do the same thing,” McConnell said. “Impeachment ought to be rare,” he added. “This is not good for the country.”

The coronavirus pandemic fell out of the headlines many months ago, but in recent days it has returned: a new strain of the virus was discovered in Great Britain, and in New York a number of infections that had not been seen in a long time were reported. "The new strain came from several countries, but it was located in the UK," Professor Cyrille Cohen, an expert on the immune system from Bar-Ilan University, told Ynet Live. "The name given to it is 'Eris', and it is a descendant of the strains that currently rule the world - the XBB....

On Monday, local, state and federal leaders joined environmental activists to tour the Harlem River by boat. They hope to tackle disparities between different parts of the city. New York City has more shoreline than Miami, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco combined, but access points to the waterways are not distributed equally. Dozens filled the deck of a Circle Line boat to discover a new perspective of home. This is the second year Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and the Harlem River Working Group have organized the tour to call for more support. The group also included Bronx and Harlem...

On Tuesday morning, Donald Trump’s legal team made what most would consider a very normal, reasonable request. Yet, it was quickly denied in a move that previews really rough seas ahead for the former president. The controversy surrounds a hearing on a recent DOJ-requested protective order against Trump relating to a post he made on Truth Social attacking Mike Pence. Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing the D.C.-based election-related case, quickly set a hearing date of August 11th. The problem? It wasn’t immediately clear that either of Trump’s primary lawyers could make that date. That led to a request that...

U.S. power plant owners warned the Biden administration on Tuesday that its sweeping plan to slash carbon emissions from the electricity sector is unworkable, relying too heavily on costly technologies that are not yet proven at scale. Top utility trade group the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) asked the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for revisions of the proposed power plant standards, which hinge on the widespread commercial availability of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and low-emissions green hydrogen, adding the agency's vision was "not legally or technically sound."
