Salem police received a report Monday from a man who said his nephew confessed to killing his girlfriend, identified by prosecutors as 20-year-old Nayeli Nieves, of Salem.
Advertisement According to a police report, 33-year-old Pablo Vicente, of Salem, said he killed Nieves in the Pope Street home they shared with their two children during a fight about whether she was cheating on him.
According to a police report, Vicente choked Nieves and she lost consciousness. He said he did not call 911, he tried to perform CPR on her, but she died.
The police report states that their children were present for their mother’s death and lived with her body in the home for three days until Vicente moved it.
"Vicente states that Nieves began to get 'stinky' so he wrapped her in bed sheets and carpet and disposed of her in a dumpster on the property," according to the police report. Prosecutors said the two children, ages 3 years and 18 months, have been placed in the custody of the state's Department of Children and Families.
Vicente was held without bail at his arraignment in Salem District Court. He is next scheduled to appear in court Sept. 8 for a probable cause hearing via teleconference

I don’t see why if he admitted choking her to unconscious, not calling for professional medical help and she died, they don’t just have sentencing? why bail, etc etc when he admits causing the harm that killed her?
How much you want to bet he was the one cheating on her?

And has happened before and chronicled in past true crime books, wimpy prosecutors may settle for plea deal on desecration of a corpse or abuse of one.

He has to officially make those statements in a courtroom, and plead guilty in official Court proceedings. Then his sentencing will happen after that at some point.
