Law enforcement officials in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Wednesday, reported a male suspect allegedly stole several cases of Bud Light beer from a convenience store. When reports of the alleged crime were shared online, readers responded by making jokes at the thief's expense that referenced the ongoing boycott of Bud Light by conservatives. One person wrote on Facebook that the suspect was too "embarrassed to be seen buying it." Bud Light is still experiencing backlash from conservatives that began after an April 1 post by transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney revealed she had a small branded partnership with the beer brand....

Republican aides confirmed that Greene was ejected from the hardline caucus just weeks after she cursed out fellow member Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), calling her a “little bitch” on the House floor. “A vote was taken to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from the House Freedom Caucus for some of the things she’s done,” Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) told Politico, adding that it was “an appropriate action.”

A HANDFUL of the Finns Party’s ministers have made overt and less overt references to the predominantly white far-right conspiracy theory known as the great replacement or replacement theory. Helsingin Sanomat on Monday reported that Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio (PS) has pointed to the conspiracy theory in a number of statements in the session hall of the Finnish Parliament. The theory alleges that left-leaning domestic or international elites are trying to replace the white population with non-white immigrants, enabling non-white majorities to take control of key institutions, destroy cultures and traditions, and ultimately eliminate white populations....

As a warming Earth simmered into worrisome new territory this week, scientists said the unofficial records being set for average planetary temperature were a clear sign of how pollutants released by humans are warming their environment. But the heat is also just one way the planet is telling us something is gravely wrong, they said. “Heat sets the pace of our climate in so many ways ... it’s never just the heat,” said Kim Cobb, a climate scientist at Brown University. Dying coral reefs, more intense Nor’easters and the wildfire smoke that has choked much of North America this summer...

Kid Rock is selling Bud Light at his bar again despite shooting up a case of the beer with his AR-15 in protest of its collaboration with Dylan Mulvaney. The pro-Trump singer, wearing a MAGA hat, said he wanted to send a 'clear and concise' message after discovering trans content creator Dylan Mulvaney was working with the beer company....

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem laid into uber-woke ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's over the company's infamous July 4th tweet in which it called for Mount Rushmore to be returned to Native Americans. Noem, a Republican, called the Ben & Jerry's bosses a 'bunch of liberal Vermont businessmen' who 'haven't studied our history' and think that they 'know everything about this country,' during an interview with Fox News on Thursday. According to Trump campaign officials talking to Politico about recent fundraising, in the second quarter of this year the Trump campaign raised $35 million with an average contribution of $34.20 per donor. Doing the math, that’s over a million small donors, average Americans, supporting President Trump. This level of small donor fundraising reminds us of the summer of 2016 when former RNC Chairman Reince Priebus first saw the scale of small donors for President Trump and suddenly realized no political candidate before him had ever assembled such a massive level of grassroots support. Many of those donors contributing for the first...

In Mayor Eric Adams’s first month in office, he was confronted with a tragic crisis: the deaths of two New York City police officers who were responding to a domestic disturbance in Harlem. Mr. Adams, a former police captain who campaigned as a Democratic crime fighter, quickly sought to humanize the killings. The loss of the officers, he said, reminded him of the 1987 line-of-duty death of a friend, Officer Robert Venable. “I still think about Robert,” Mr. Adams said at a news conference at City Hall. “I keep a picture of Robert in my wallet.” A week later, Mr....

WASHINGTON — The first space-based hyperspectral imaging sensor built by San Francisco startup Orbital Sidekick, founded in 2016, literally went from the garage of CEO and co-founder Dan Katz to the International Space Station as an experiment for Air Force Research Laboratory. “That was a kick ass little sensor we … integrated in my garage in San Francisco, and then handed it off to SpaceX, which launched it. And then NASA, the astronauts, took it from the Dragon capsule and installed it,” Katz told Breaking Defense in an interview. Hyperspectral cameras break down pixels into hundreds of frequency bands and...

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is recruiting former Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX) to run for her old seat in Texas’s 34th congressional district. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) defeated Flores last year, and the NRCC has made the 34th congressional seat a prime target in the upcoming elections. The NRCC shared a poll that found Flores tied with Gonzalez and a memo that said Flores “has already proven she can win, and new polling shows she remains popular.” The memo claimed that the district is one of the better pickup opportunities as Republicans attempt to widen their House Republican majority.

Explanation: On July 4, an almost Full Moon rose in planet Earth's evening skies. Also known as a Buck Moon, the full lunar phase (full on July 3 at 11:39 UTC) was near perigee, the closest point in the Moon's almost monthly orbit around planet Earth. That qualified this July's Full Moon as a supermoon, the first of four supermoons in 2023. Seen from Cocoa Beach along Florida's Space Coast on July 4, any big, bright, beautiful Full Moon would still have to compete for attention though. July's super-moonrise was captured here against a super-colorful fireworks display.
