The appellate court's ruling reverses an earlier decision by Gov. Gavin Newsom to reject parole for Van Houten in 2020. She has been recommended for parole five times since 2016. All of those recommendations were rejected by either Newsom or former California Gov. Jerry Brown,...

GOP Rep. Nancy Mace grew a swelling list of Republicans who are balking at the cost of the debt limit deal Speaker Kevin McCarthy cut with President Biden. The debt limit deal includes $136 billion in budget cuts and suspends the debt ceiling until Jan. 1, 2025 - after the 2024 election. Some of the opposed Republicans, who passed a bill last month - the Limit, Save, Grow Act - that would only raise the ceiling by $1.5 trillion, say the debt limit suspension goes beyond that is necessary and gives the Biden administration the ability to overspend for the...

""Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest." "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting." Revelation, Chapter 15 1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great...

Former Vice President Mike Pence comes four points behind DeSantis with five percent support, followed by South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (four percent), former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (three percent), anti-woke businessman...

New paper detects plague bacteria in three of 34 bodies they tested in Britain, all dating to about 4,000 years ago. Research has also found good news for rat loversThough it is rare today, we remain gripped by fear of plague. There is no vaccine against it, though it is treatable with antibiotics as it’s caused by bacteria. It wasn’t treatable at all before the era of modern medicine, and periodically sowed terror and death throughout Eurasia and the Middle East. But the burning questions of the day are: When did it emerge, and when did it first reach Britain?...

One of the most important, but neglected truths in the Bible "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?" -- 1 Corinthians 6:2-3. The False Kingdom of Heaven, the 666 Beast System, which the world is working towards, mirrors this passage. The great natural goodness and moral superiority of the worldly, qualities which many atheists, for example, believe they possess, qualifies them (at...

Kari Lake joined Bannon’s War Room this morning to give a big update on her election lawsuit and the newly discovered evidence that her election was rigged by corrupt Maricopa County officials. The Gateway Pundit has reported extensively on Kari Lake’s fight against the stolen Arizona Midterm election and her recent trial on signature verification fraud after the claim was remanded by the Arizona Supreme Court. Despite massive evidence of fraud in the Midterm Election and sham signature verification, Judge Peter A. Thompson again ruled in favor of the Defendants, claiming that “level one and level two signature review did...

North Korea fired what it described as a “space satellite” toward the south on Wednesday, South Korea's military said, according to Reuters. Sirens were heard across Seoul around 6:32 a.m. local time, and the city issued a warning asking citizens to prepare for potential evacuation, the report said. The Japanese government issued an emergency warning over its J-Alert broadcasting system for residents of the southern prefecture of Okinawa, saying a missile had been launched from North Korea. The launch comes a day after North Korea confirmed it will launch a reconnaissance satellite in June. The North’s official KCNA news agency...

The House could pass the debt-ceiling deal agreed to by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and President Joe Biden, but it might ultimately cost McCarthy his job if he has to have Democrat votes to do it, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., warned Tuesday on Newsmax. "The operative question there is whether or not the speaker can get to a majority of the majority," Gaetz told Tuesday's "The Chris Salcedo Show." "If a majority of Republicans are against a piece of legislation, and you use Democrats to pass it, that would immediately be a black-letter violation of the deal we had...

As our nation comes to grip with the horrific events of January 6 and watches the Republican Party descend further into Trumpism as it pushes hundreds of restrictive voting laws across the country, the obvious question is how does American democracy come back from all this? There is a path forward: The super-majority of Americans across the political spectrum who reject the extremism need to come together. This includes the pro-democracy right. But for the pro-democracy right to thrive, we need to reform the U.S. voting system to allow for new parties to emerge outside the existing two-party system. Without...

A “Big Short” investor who predicted the 2008 housing crisis fears history could repeat itself because the mortgage market is underestimating the systemic risk posed by flooding. Dave Burt, CEO of investment research company DeltaTerra Capital, made millions off the subprime mortgage crisis while working for New York-based Cornwall Capital. Cornwall’s success was later profiled in Michael Lewis’ bestselling book “The Big Short,” which detailed the lead-up to the 2008 economic collapse.

A Chinese fighter pilot performed an "unnecessarily aggressive maneuver" near an American surveillance aircraft operating over the South China Sea last week, the US military said Tuesday. The incident -- which the Pentagon says is part of a pattern of behavior by China -- comes at a time of already heightened tensions between Washington and Beijing over issues including Taiwan and an alleged Chinese spy balloon that was shot down after traversing the United States earlier this year. The Chinese plane "flew directly in front of and within 400 feet of the nose of the RC-135, forcing the US aircraft...

The revelations about the Jeffrey Epstein trafficking ring as coming hard and fast, but so far, few stories can compare in terms of impact with the revelations around Mila Antonova, who as a young woman was said to be a ‘lover’ of billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates. We now have seen evidence of a link between Antonova and Russian spy Anna Chapman, and we also learned that Epstein tried to leverage his knowledge of Gates’ relationship with Antonova in order to compel him into investing in a ‘charitable fund’ that the pedophile was setting up. The Daily Mail has reported...

The sacrosanct month of Pride begins later this week. If you're a reasonable business executive sitting in a C-suite at a major American corporation, you've got to be asking yourself: is all of this performative rainbow nonsense really worth it? First Bud Light, now Target—corporations that have tried in recent weeks to push transgender ideology on their customers have faced enormous backlash. As woke activists demand increasingly more radical genuflections, is there any way for these businesses to thread the needle? The boycotts are starting to take a real toll. Since introducing its line of "tuck-friendly" swimsuits, Target has lost...

It’s time for Gen Z to stop “bed rotting” and leave the house. Working from home could stunt career growth and romantic relationships, Scott Galloway, a marketing professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business, said at the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council Summit last week. “You should never be at home. That’s what I tell young people. Home is for seven hours of sleep and that’s it,” Galloway dished in a clip posted by the Journal on TikTok. “The amount of time you spend at home is inversely correlated to your success professionally and romantically. You need to...

Eighth Week in Ordinary Time Mark 10:28–31Friends, today’s Gospel exhorts us to see the radicality and rewards of Jesus’ call to discipleship, which cuts through so many of the social conventions of his time and ours. Jesus urges us to see that everyone—rich and poor, men and women, those on the inside and those on the outs—is summoned to discipleship, and that this summons is the most important consideration of all. It is the better part, to use Jesus’ words; it is the one thing necessary.St. Augustine was right: “Lord, you have made us for yourself, and our hearts are...
