A lost climber who endured a night in an open bivy at 11,600 feet on the Whitney Glacier in California was saved in a 12-hour "mega-rescue," according to the Mount Shasta Avalanche Center and Home of the Climbing Rangers. Heightened by the weekend weather, the nonprofit organization said the incident occurred Saturday on "one of the most difficult and dangerous areas of the mountain to access." Extremely poor visibility kept aerial resources grounded, the nonprofit said. However, the United States Forest Service Climbing Rangers, in cooperation with Siskiyou County Search and Rescue, located the climber alive and in "remarkably good...

When NFL players took a knee during the National Anthem in 2016, a tradition was born at Rainbow Oaks Restaurant. Owners Duke and Jonell Maples, who remodeled and reopened the restaurant in 2009, decided to start playing the National Anthem at noon, seven days a week. "It was my way of waving my middle finger at the NFL," said the retired Marine. The restaurant is filled with patriotic memorabilia and American flags. A Marine Corps flag flies under the American flag atop the restaurant and inside, it's obvious the clientele has support for and by the military and law enforcement....

Former President Trump bashed Gov. Ron DeSantis in a new ad Friday, claiming the Florida Republican needs a “personality transplant.” “The problem with Rondesanctimonious is that he needs a personality transplant, and those are not yet available. Almost all congressmen and women that served with him and knew him well supported me, some of them surprisingly so because of their relationship with Ron,” he said in the 40-second ad, using his preferred nickname for DeSantis.

California Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford is warning African Americans not to get their “hopes up” for massive reparations payments from the state. Bradford’s message comes after the California Reparations Task Force recommended over the weekend that the state pay up to $1.2 million in reparations to each eligible Black resident. The state lawmaker, who served on the task force, claimed that it’s possible that Black residents could receive cash payments “if the money’s there,” but argued that receiving million dollar checks in repayment for historical discrimination is “not happening.” The reparations panel held a public meeting in Oakland, California,...

Living in Biden Country! Where big American cities are becoming like Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago. And the sad headline of the day (other than pure chaos on the Mexican border) is that NO RENT IS BEING PAID ON 20% OF ALL US OFFICE SPACE! And small banks hold 70% of commercial real estate loans! As The Fed momentarily pauses rate hikes, office vacancy rate just hit an all-time high. Another Biden first!! And the NCREIF office property index falling as The Fed tightens.

VIDEOImagine being in Ebenezer Baptist church and everybody around you is singing an upbeat gospel song and swaying and clapping to the music? What do you do? Well, if you are Joe Biden, apparently nothing. Somehow he can't even seem to get a hint of what to do. Could it be due to an awkward lack of any rhythm?

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

“My dad saw the true Vladimir Putin long before the rest of the world witnessed the depths of his evil. He also believed in the strength and bravery of the Ukrainian people in the face of encroaching autocracy and tyranny. It is my hope that the United States and our allies continue to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the resources they need to repel Vladimir Putin’s invading army. We must also provide comfort and aid to Ukrainian refugees whose lives were upended by indiscriminate Russian bombing. As my father did, I stand with the people of Ukraine and look...

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas argued that the number of crossings at the border has spiked in the past year due to “poverty, violence, corruption, authoritarian regimes, the COVID-19 pandemic, extreme weather events,” and false information from smugglers. Co-host Willie Geist asked, “You said a moment ago, Mr. Secretary, that we have a broken immigration system. And I don’t think many people would disagree with you about that. And yes, this is a decades-old problem, but the truth of the matter is, just this week, we’re seeing record numbers of illegal crossings at the...

A New York State Assembly bill that would have banned landlords from reporting late rent payments to credit agencies was withdrawn this week, exposing potential difficulties for Democrats in achieving housing reform before the legislative session ends on June 8. The bill, proposed by Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, sought to protect tenants from credit score damage and potential issues securing future leases due to delayed rent payments. Rosenthal asserts that the bill would have leveled the playing field for renters, as landlords can still pursue fines or evictions for late payments. However, the proposal was deemed too open-ended by some Democratic...

Earlier this week, a 34-year-old driver led North Carolina police officers and deputies on a pursuit after fleeing from the officers during a traffic stop. According to the Town of Boone Police Department and the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, later identified as Joshua Minton, of Millers Creek, NC, ran into an undeveloped area after abandoning his vehicle in the Deep Gap area. Because the suspect was driving fast and recklessly, officers were not close behind him and therefore did not see where he ran to, police said. While officers were searching the area for the suspect, they were...

Think Liza Minnelli and Joel Gray in Carberet. Think West Hollywood, Greenwich Village and Provincetown and the Castro, known as hotbeds of homosexuality. But they are nothing like the uninhibited urban gay sexual scene and vast homosexual subculture that flourished in Berliin under Germany's Weimar Republic. Sexual experimentation between the same sexes and medical advances of helping genders ‘trapped within the wrong body’ in Germany more than one hundred years ago shaped our understanding of gay identity today. The city's liberal years - before the rise of Hitler - are detailed in a new book, Gay Berlin. The science of...
